Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Overview of 2019

2019 was a very exciting year for me full of amazing opportunities, travel and new friendships. Don’t get me wrong, just like any other year, 2019 did have its ups and downs (mainly ups), but that is always life. As we are about to enter into a new decade, I am excited to go over my 2019 in review, by month, and share some of my top moments, highlights, downsides and lessons learned.

January 2019:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Just like in my 2018 Year in Review, I talk about how New Year’s Eve has never been a big night for me. Yes, I usually like to do something and celebrate, but I am a firm believer that what happens on New Year’s Eve doesn’t predict the rest of your year. New Year’s Eve last year was spent with my brother, his ex-girlfriend, my friend Kristin and a few of my brother’s other friends. We went to a bar in Jersey City, NJ to ring in 2019. As a 27-year-old (at the time) who has been long term single, let’s just say I’ve been over the rowdy bar scene. I’ve been there and done that in my earlier 20s and I no longer could stand bar fights, crowds and crazy drunk people. Literally, after watching the Times Square ball drop on the bar’s television, we took a Lyft home and the rest is history LOL.

During January 2019, I was all about business. I did not take any big trips during that month, which was a good thing because it allowed me to focus on growing my blog and brand. In January of this past year, I also went through a major website redesign. Gariele of Dreamworthy Design, is a former travel blogger herself and knew everything I needed to become successful. My new website provided an easier and more enjoyable user experience for all and Gariele’s work surpassed my expectations by making my website dreams a reality. (If you are looking to redesign your current website, I couldn’t recommend Gariele more. Her work is amazing and she really takes the time to understand your business and what you need and want in a website.)

The rest of January was spent enjoying the joys of winter – ice skating every Sunday with my mom, seeing Aladdin on Broadway (I always get my mom tickets for Christmas), celebrating one of my best friend’s mother’s 60th birthday, meeting Livia of Liv and Wander in NYC and more. During the month of January, I also went to the New York Times Travel Show in NYC, where I got to network with my dream tourism boards and travel companies, learn about travel trends and meet other NYC travel bloggers and influencers. In addition, I also got my first big paid brand collaboration with Secret Deodorant. I was so excited and happy to have worked with them and it was the first collaboration where I was paid over $100 and it gave me hope for success in the coming year!

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Thankfully, there were really no downsides to the month of January besides not going on any trips (even locally), but that is okay because the rest of the year made up for it.

February 2019:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

February was an exciting month because not only was my newly redesigned website complete, I also reached 15,000 followers on Instagram. In fact, February was my most successful month ever on the app. I was growing 100 followers a day, getting more paid brand collaborations and working with more hotels worldwide! It was way before the algorithm took over LOL. I remember my parents taking me out for a nice Spanish dinner to celebrate the success of both my blog and Instagram, which was very nice.

Before my big trip to New Zealand, I watched the SuperBowl with my friend Kristin at a bar in Montclair, I went to see Pretty Woman on Broadway with my mom and cousin Brielle and I also saw Mean Girls with my mother and her coworker Jiwon. Going to Broadway plays during winter weekends are definitely a great way to get through the colder months.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

New Zealand was my big trip for February and also the very first international trip for 2019. I spent two full weeks on the South Island of New Zealand and it was one of my most memorable trips of the year. It was a solo trip for me and I based myself in the adventure-filled city of Queenstown where I got to work with three hotels while I was there, including a local spa.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

During my time in Queenstown, I went paragliding, which was one of the most epic experiences I had in 2019. I soared over the beautiful mountains of Coronet Peak for a half hour. The beauty of Queenstown is absolutely amazing and I could definitely live there! I also ate delicious foods, went luging down a mountain and met new friends.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

In addition to Queenstown, I also took some amazing day trips to Milford Sound, where I saw the most amazing waterfalls that I’ve ever experienced. I visited Milford Sound on Valentine’s Day and it was raining, making the waterfalls even more spectacular. My tour of Milford Sound was through a ferry ride that the hostel I was working for owned, so there were a lot of younger Australians and Kiwis that I was able to befriend. In addition, because of the torrential downpours and heavy winds, going outside on the ferry deck made the experience at Milford Sound even more fun!

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

I also got to visit other breathtaking sites such as Mount Cook, which is the highest mountain in New Zealand; the stunning bright blue lakes of Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki (I also got to see some lupins there as well); the fun town of Wanaka and the historical Arrowtown. The only downsides to my New Zealand trip was that it was nearly a 40-hour journey to get there with layovers in the cities of Dallas, Sydney and San Francisco. It is also a super expensive country, so I definitely spent more than I had wanted to, but it was definitely worth it! In addition, I wish I had the guts to have rented a car on my own in New Zealand. As a U.S. citizen, I drive on the right-hand side of the road with the driver’s wheel being on the left side. In New Zealand, it is opposite and since I was traveling alone and cell phone service goes in and out throughout the country, I just didn’t feel comfortable renting my own car. I know that if I did, I could’ve seen even more, but taking the hop-on, hop-off buses were still an epic experience and it allowed me to meet other solo travelers. During my road trips on the bus, we also got to stop at Cromwell, Lindis Pass, Cardrona and Crown Range Pass. I also did a luxury wine tour through New Zealand’s Central Otago wine region. I will admit that I was the only single girl with a group of honeymooners and older couple’s, but everyone was very nice to me and it allowed me to meet more friends.

March:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

After reading my 2018 Year in Review, it seems like March is always the month where I make major life changes. Just like in 2018, I went with my gut and said goodbye to a friendship that was no longer serving me. Even though I could get into the nitty gritty details of what happened with this friendship, it would take me a whole blog post to go through and honestly, I want to keep myself from thinking about past drama. A brief story of what happened was that this friend was one of those girls who was on a timeline to get married, have babies and just have her entire life together by the age of 30. (Guess what my friends, if you are one of those people who is on a timeline and needs to compare yourself to others, you will never be happy or content.) For someone who still had to work on herself, just like I was, she wasn’t ready to plan a wedding within a year and as the lucky one who was chosen as her maid of honor, all of her stress was put on me. Don’t get me wrong, as a good friend, I was sincerely happy for her and wanted to help her plan her dream wedding, bachelorette, etc. but as someone who is a business owner and has a lot of stress and work to do on my own end, I couldn’t accommodate to her needs (and she definitely wasn’t making her wedding planning easy for anyone). Unfortunately, she wasn’t understanding of my situation and tried to make my life a living nightmare. She is also one of those girls who says some pretty passive aggressive comments to make you feel bad because she wasn’t fully content with her own life (because of the stress she was putting on herself) and I just had to cut the cords, back out of her wedding and even block her on social media for the sake of my own mental health. As tough as that was, it was one of the best things that happened to me this year and it allowed me to reconsider some of the other negative influences in my life. After that, I was able to focus and meet new people who were more likeminded and kinder.

Now that I got the downside of March out of the way, the month was full of wonderful weekend getaways! Since my family didn’t do a big vacation this year, we decided to do a weekend in Québec City. I was originally going out there by myself because I got a great hotel collaboration, but my family decided they needed to get away too. Québec City is cold, but absolutely magical during the month of March. There is also a lot of Christmas decorations still up. During our time in Québec City, we savored delicious French-Canadian cuisine, wandered through the old town and also visited the famous ice hotel.

Another great brand I worked with over the past year was Getaway house. They set me up in their New York Catskill Outpost and because I didn’t have a boyfriend to share my experience with, I invited some of my girl friends to spend the weekend with me and we had some fun girl time. We played board games, drank wine, had s’mores, hiked and saw stunning frozen waterfalls.

In addition to the fun adventures, I also celebrated my friend Stacey’s bridal shower. I was a bridesmaid for her wedding and the experience was much more enjoyable! I also worked with a local hotel in Nyack and had a staycation.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

During the month of March, I also made it to 20,000 followers on Instagram and celebrated with my mom and her best friend down the shore. That was the last time I’ve made a big Instagram milestone because the algorithm kicked in during the month of April.

April:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

April was another month full of fun adventures. The beginning of the month was spent celebrating my friend Stacey’s bachelorette in New Orleans. I absolutely love going down to New Orleans because it is one of my favorite cities in the United States since it is full of culture, amazing food and beauty. During Stacey’s bachelorette, we did a bar crawl, went to the best restaurants in the city, visited my favorite wine garden, saw a drag queen show, did a cemetery ghost tour and more. It was a blast also being with my great college friends!

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The month of April is also the time where I get my hair lightened for the spring and summer months. I went down to Asbury Park at the Jersey Shore where my cousin Jessica did my hair for me. I absolutely loved it! In addition, I also celebrated Easter down the shore with my family, went to the Organic Spa travel event in New York City and attended a charity event in Hoboken, NJ.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The downside to the month of April was getting shadowbanned on Instagram for over a month! I lost over 2,000 followers on Instagram, all of those who I organically gained through my own hard work. It was pretty defeating and I honestly thought I was never going to get lifted from it. I ended up getting lifted at the end of May and was able to move forward with it all.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The best part of the month of April was doing a major trip to Morocco with We Are Travel Girls and also adventuring solo to Sevilla, Spain; Amsterdam, Netherlands and Brugge, Belgium. The highlights of my Morocco trip was meeting a new group of girlfriends (some including Instagram friends I’ve been connected with for a while such as Anna from Travel Outside the Box, Jackie Tamburo and Ashley Chase) and road tripping through the south of the country where we saw the infamous Game of Thrones site of Aït Benhaddou; took a camel ride through the Sahara and glamped in the middle of the dessert and also tasted fresh argan products and wine outside the colorful fishing village of Essaouira. In addition, I loved staying at the most beautiful riad in Marrakech; getting lost in the souks of the medina; visiting Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque and the Majorelle Gardens; taking a Moroccan cooking class and dancing the night away at La Maison Arabe and savoring delicious cuisines at all of the wonderful restaurants throughout the city. If there was a downside to this trip, it was not taking the time to visit the beautiful blue city of Chefaouen.

After spending my last week of April in Morocco, I took a short flight up to Sevilla, Spain on my own. I figured since Morocco is so close to the Andalusia region of Southern Spain, I would spend a few days there, since that area has been on my bucket list for so long.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

During my time in Sevilla, I met up with Matt of Indefinitely Lost and we explored the city’s gems such as the Plaza de Espana, cathedral, Maria Luísa Park, Las Setas de Sevilla, Royal Alcázar de Sevilla and more. I also had delicious tapas and even saw a private flamenco show, which was definitely a treat to me. In addition, I also did a day trip to Granada to see the infamous Alhambra. The time period I visited Sevilla was also when the annual Feria was happening. I got to wander through the festival and see women beautifully dressed in flamenco-styled dresses. It was such a wonderful event to experience during my time in Sevilla. Overall, there were no downsides to my time in Southern Spain.

After spending a few days in Spain, I ended my trip in Amsterdam solo. The reason why I wanted to travel to Amsterdam during early May is because I wanted to see the Dutch tulips. During my time in Amsterdam, I worked with a great hostel and ate amazing food such as Dutch pancakes and stroopwafels. I also got to visit the Anne Frank House; discovered the behind the scenes of the Red Light District; admired stunning Dutch architecture and saw the Royal Palace. I did get to see the tulips, but I didn’t get to go to the actual tulip farms in Lisse because all of the bulbs had already been cut (definitely a downside to my time in Amsterdam). Instead, I visited Keukenhof Gardens, which was absolutely beautiful and I even hired a photographer (Sandra Herrero) to help me take photos there. During my time in Amsterdam, I also met up with Hannah of Exploring Relentlessly and Iwan of Mr. Carrington.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

During my time in Amsterdam, I also did a day trip to Brugge, Belgium. Getting to Brugge from Amsterdam took around 3 hours and I had some pretty hilarious people on my bus ride who definitely made the experience more memorable. My time in Brugge consisted of me stuffing my face in frites (fries), Belgian beer, mussels and waffles. I also wandered around the city and visited a few churches and museums. It was such a lovely time.

When I returned home from my trip, I worked with World Animal Protection in New York City to raise awareness for elephants. I also had the opportunity to work with Cenote Tequila and attended a fun event in NYC for them too in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. I also got to meet Caitlin of My Darling Passport. In addition, I also celebrated my grandparents birthdays and I took my mom to a winery for Mother’s Day.

Later in the month, I traveled back to Europe solo because I worked with a hotel chain in Lisbon as well as a boutique hostel in the coastal town of Peniche. My trip to Portugal was definitely one to remember because I saw the beautiful coastal cliffs, went hiking, visited a fort and prison and ate delicious Portuguese food. The highlights of this trip was finally learning how to surf, which was such a blast (I even caught 6 waves), and I also took a fun boat ride and did a day trip to the breathtaking Berlenga Island. Afterwards, I spent my last day in Lisbon doing everything I didn’t get a chance to do during my first time there. I visited the castle, TimeOut Market and had one of the best meals of my life. Overall, there were no downsides to my trip to Portugal.

June:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Ah my birthday month! I absolutely love June because it is start of the summer season, my birthday falls in this month and that is also when we start going down to our family’s shore house every weekend.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

To start off the month, I had the opportunity to work with the Cape May Lewes Ferry in Cape May, NJ. Prior to that weekend, I had never been to Cape May before and I have heard nothing but great things about it, so I couldn’t wait to enjoy it with my mom. In addition to the ferry, I also got to work with GlampingHub and stayed at a “glampsite” in Cape May. Overall, we had an amazing time taking the ferry to Lewes, Delaware for the day, indulging in amazing food, visiting the beaches and even going to the winery there. The only downside to this weekend getaway was that I ended up getting sick with a cold.

The middle of the month was spent going down the shore, visiting wineries, going hiking and celebrating my friend Stacey’s wedding in the Princeton area. It was my very first time being part of a wedding party as a bridesmaid (I was a flower girl when I was younger). The wedding itself was absolutely beautiful and I had such a blast with my college friends.

On June 25, I celebrated my 28th birthday and took a dream trip to Peru. (Prior to leaving for my trip, I celebrated with my family at a winery.) I flew to Peru the day before my birthday and I celebrated in Cusco. (It was also my very first time in South America.) I saw all of the stunning gems of the city and treated myself to a lovely birthday dinner! The only downside was that my actual birthday was the only day during my trip that I was alone, but it ended up being nice because I fell in love with Cusco.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

During my trip to Peru, I did a day hike to Rainbow Mountain and I also did the 3-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu with a group of awesome people. Overall, the hike and trek were one of the most physically challenging, but rewarding experiences of my life and one of the main reasons why is because of the altitude of the Andes Mountains. The highest altitude I trekked to during my time in Peru was over 17,000 feet above sea level! During my first 3 days in Peru, even a small hill made me feel like I got the wind knocked out of me. After walking straight for 4 days, my knees were so sore and I could barely walk (especially downhill), my feet and hands were swollen and full of blisters and I felt super dirty. I was also super sleep deprived since I was waking up between 1am and 5am everyday. It was definitely worth it though when I reached Machu Picchu in the end – one of the 7 Wonders of the World. A lot of people will take the train to Machu Picchu, but I am so grateful I got to experience the trek. It made my 28th birthday more fulfilling.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

After completing the Salkantay Trek, I made my way to Lima where I met up with my childhood friend Cecilia after 20 years! Cecilia and I were best friends in second grade. I was so sad when she moved out of my hometown and never thought I would see her again. We reconnected on Facebook over 10 years ago when we were seniors in high school and have stayed in touch since. I still never thought I’d see her again. I was so happy to find out she lives in Lima and we spent the entire day together catching up over 20 years and she showed me the best of the city, where her family grew up and the most amazing Peruvian foodie spots.

July:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The month of July was mainly spent enjoying the summer down the shore. I also attended a few PR events in the city, two of them where I got to meet Edana of Wanderstylust and Tea of Citeachic.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The highlight of the month of July was doing the 6-day Camino de Frances of the Camino de Santiago in the Galicia region of Northern Spain. I was invited to do the Camino through Petrabax Tours and it literally came to me at a spiritual moment. The night prior to getting the invite to do the Camino de Santiago, I remember meditating on how I wanted to do more spiritual and off-the-beaten path trips moving forward. Literally, the next morning, I received an email in my inbox inviting me to do the Camino de Santiago – a huge bucket list goal. After watching the movie “The Way” during my study abroad trip in Spain, I knew what the Camino consisted of and I couldn’t wait to finally do the pilgrimage and get the experience myself.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The Camino de Santiago or The Way of St. James has existed as a sacred pilgrimage for over a thousand years. Nowadays, people from all over the world travel by foot or bicycle to make their way to the city of Santiago de Compostela. During my very own Camino pilgrimage, I trekked with Elena of The Carryon Chronicles and we walked through stunning Spanish countryside, storybook villages, picturesque nature and so much more.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Just like the trek to Machu Picchu, the Camino de Santiago was another physically challenging experience. My knees were killing me and I had water blisters the size of golf balls on my feet, but every part of this pilgrimage was worth it. Arriving at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela was such a rewarding and magical experience that I will never forget. There was laughter, singing, happiness, tears, joy, accomplishments and fulfillment. As I stood in front of that cathedral, I took in everything I’ve experienced over the past two weeks (including my journey in Peru). Within a two-week time frame, I had walked 100 miles! These once in a lifetime experiences have taught me that I am stronger than I think; I have more patience than I realize; I could achieve anything I set my mind to; there are so many beautiful people in this world and I am on my way to greatness.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The rest of July was spent relaxing, celebrating my mom’s 55th birthday, going to see Dear Evan Hansen and attending my cousin’s baby shower. The only downside to the month of July was getting shadow banned on Instagram again, but for only two weeks this time around.

August:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The beginning of August was spent relaxing down at my family’s shore house by myself. My family’s beach house is located in Lavallette, NJ on the Barnegat Inlet and I usually enjoy weekends there with my family. Every summer, I will usually spend a week solo at the house by myself. It allows me to tune into what needs to get done, what I need to change and reflection. Not only does spending a week down the shore allow me to get a lot of work done, I also love spending a few hours on the beach and reading a book each day. It is my time for relaxation on my own and it is absolutely perfect!

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

At the end of August, I traveled to Central America and the Caribbean for the very first time. I was invited to spend four days at the beautiful Turneffe Island Resort in Belize and it was everything my soul needed. I usually don’t do island or beach trips since I spend summers down the shore in New Jersey, so it was absolutely perfect to just relax at this wonderful resort and discover our beautiful underwater world. During my time at Turneffe Island Resort, I had the opportunity to meet new friends and fellow bloggers such as Pete, Diana of DWanderess, Gabby of The Trini Traveller and Shwetha of Chasing Shwetha. We all had such a blast snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing on a Hobie Cat. We also got to relax and enjoy all of the amazing amenities at the resort such as all of the hammocks and lounging areas, the pool and bar, plus so much more! I also saw amazing sunrises and tasted delicious Belizean dishes.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The highlight of my trip to Belize was our epic day trip to the Great Blue Hole. It is a huge underwater sink hole that lies near the center of the Lighthouse reef of Belize. During this day, I saw more amazing fish in addition to our other snorkeling excursions and I even got to swim with nurse sharks! From there, we made our way to Half Moon Caye and enjoyed a lovely lunch on a private beach and did another snorkeling excursion in Long Caye. It was such an amazing trip and there were no downsides to it.

After spending a few days in Belize, I took a prop plane by myself over to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. I honestly had no idea that I would be taking a small plane with only one other person to Cancun Airport, but it was definitely an experience for sure. I finally got a taste of the private jet life because I was greeted right when I stepped off the plane on the runway and my luggage was waiting for me at immigration.

During the last part of my week in Central America/The Caribbean, I had a relaxing and fun time working with a beautiful boutique hotel in Tulum. The city of Tulum has been on my bucket list for quite some time and I had such a blast adventuring with photographer Madeline Lenore who took me around the town of Tulum as well as to a hidden cenote. In addition, I enjoyed the best Mexican food, went to the beach and also saw another Wonder of the WorldChichen Itza. During my time in Tulum, I also got to meet up with Taylor of Taylor on a Trip and Ashley of Life Outside the 9-5. The only downside of my time in Tulum was that I didn’t spend more time there and I also ended up getting a stomach bug at the end of my trip.

September:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

The month of September was rather relaxing for me. I didn’t go on any big trips and mainly spent weekends down the shore attending seafood and wine festivals. September is one of my favorite months throughout the year because the weather is absolutely beautiful and there are barely any crowds at the shore. The only downside to this month was that my website crashed and got hacked within a two-week time frame. It was the worst feeling ever, but I invested in security and all was good thankfully!

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

In addition to going down the shore, I also got invited to attend New York Fashion Week for the very first time. During this time period, I also met a new NYC blogger friend Chantilly of Chantilly Songs. I also got to work with more big brands and even got invited by Sony Nashville to attend a Maren Morris concert at Radio City Music Hall. (They even gifted me with a Sony Turntable with Bluetooth!) I also got my first ambassadorship during this month with Tend Skin!

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

During the month of September, I also got to enjoy hiking locally, doing fun fall activities with Chantilly and my family also did a weekend getaway to celebrate my grandfather’s belated 80th birthday at the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. As the men enjoyed golfing and going to the casino, the women went horseback riding, did archery and enjoyed a spa day. We also got to eat delicious food and enjoyed the beginning of fall foliage.

October:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

October is another one of my favorite months. I started the month by attending a Spirit Halloween event in NYC. During this event, I also got to meet vlogger Allyson Berger. I also attended my local Oktoberfest with my friend Kristen!

During the month of October, I got another great collaboration and for content creation, my mom and I did a day trip to Newport, Rhode Island where we got to photograph on the lovely Cliff Walk of the city and we also toured a few of the impressive mansions and also savored a delicious seafood dinner on the harbor. It was a lovely day!

In the middle of the month, I did a big UK trip and crossed more items off of my bucket list! I started my journey in London, where I worked with another wonderful hotel, got to see some iconic spots and also met Parisian bloggers Ophelie of Limitless Secrets and Morgane of Morgylh. I have been connected with Ophelie for quite some time now, so it was amazing to finally meet her. After London, I took a train to the English countryside, where I met Sarah of Dukes Avenue in Bath. We had such a lovely time catching up and exploring the beauty of the Roman city. I also got to experience the magical countryside of The Cotwsolds – an area that has been on my bucket list for quite some time. After visiting Ireland in October 2017, I truly fell in love with that part of the world during autumn, so that is what inspired me to visit the UK during October 2019. The only downside of my time in England was not visiting York, the Lake District and Wales, but it gives me a reason to go back.

After spending a few days in England, I took a short flight up to Edinburgh in Scotland. I had an epic time in Edinburgh and it became one of my favorite cities in Europe. During my time in Edinburgh, I stayed in the cutest Airbnb, I did all things Harry Potter related, hiked up Arthur’s Seat (the volcano located in the middle of the city), did the scariest ghost tour of my life, discovered hidden gems of the city with photographer Mietta Rossi and enjoyed some delicious pub food. I also did a day trip to the Scottish Highlands, which was one of the most beautiful destinations I’ve been to in the world. I got to see stunning castles, lochs and historical sites. It was absolutely amazing and there were no downsides to my time in Edinburgh.

At the end of October, I got my second ambassadorship with Maho Shades and did a lovely day trip with my mom to Jersey City to take some content for it. We also enjoyed Halloween at the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze in Westchester, New York. It was the coolest Halloween event that I’ve attended.

November:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

With only two months left of the year, I realized I barely did any U.S. trips in 2019. November was the month to finally do that! At the beginning of the month, I visited Savannah, Georgia with my mom and at the end of the month, I did a road trip through Colorado with Kristy of Ventres Adventures and Hannah of Don’t Blink Blog.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Before my trip to Savannah, I attended a fun 1950s event for a workout brand in NYC. That weekend, my mom and I flew to Savannah and had an amazing 3 days eating delicious Southern comfort food, visiting historical sites, doing a ghost tour and enjoying the beauty of the city. The only downside to this weekend was that my cousin was supposed to meet up with us, but ended up not being able to make it last minute due to an unfortunate event.

In the middle of the month, I met up with my cousin Carlo (of Expansive Media Productions) in NYC and finally was able to get content for a major NYC blog post that ended up going viral on Tailwind. I also got to visit Top of the Rock and do some Christmas activities with Chantilly.

At the end of the month, I flew out to Colorado for the very first time and did an amazing road trip through the state with a few other travelers. I got the opportunity to work with another hotel in Denver and explored the city. We also went to Alamosa where we visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Zapata Falls. After that, we made our way to Cañon City where we saw the Royal Gorge before heading up to Colorado Springs and staying at a lovely mountain resort and seeing Garden of the Gods. I also enjoyed seeing a few other scenic places in Colorado as well as Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

There were two downsides to my Colorado trip. One of them was being stuck in a 50-car pile-up in Denver. Thankfully, nothing happened to us or our rental car. There was also a major snowstorm where I thought I was going to be stuck in Denver for Thanksgiving. I was able to get home on time, but if I needed to stay in Denver for whatever reason, I would’ve made the best of the situation.

I spent the rest of November enjoying Thanksgiving with my family at home and putting up Christmas decorations.

December:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

December is the most magical month of the year because of Christmas. If you know me well or have been following me for quite some time, you know that Christmas is my favorite holiday. Every year since 2017, I’ve done a lovely Christmas trip. This year, I decided to go back to Europe and see more markets in the cities of Kraków, Poland; Prague, Czechia; Česky Krumlov, Czechia; Nuremberg, Germany; Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany; Frankfurt, Germany and Cologne, Germany.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Overall, I had a magical time wandering through the Christmas markets, indulging in delicious food and working with different hotels. I also got to visit the chilling concentration camp of Auschwitz. During my Christmas market trip in 2019, I also got to meet up with Lucka in Prague and Ilona of Simply Symone in Cologne. It was an amazing trip and I’m already looking forward to my Christmas market trip in 2020.

The rest of December was spent enjoying the holiday season. I went to a lovely Christmas brunch with a friend, did the typical Christmas activities in New York City with my family and had a lovely Christmas Eve with my dad’s side of the family and Christmas Day with my mom’s. During Christmas Eve, we celebrated with the typical Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes dinner and also the engagement of my cousin Tara and her partner Kyle. Christmas Day was spent relaxing with a traditional Christmas dinner and delicious dessert.

I am excited to ring in a new decade at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I will be celebrating alone, but I figured it would be a memorable New Year’s Eve at the happiest place on Earth!

Lessons I Learned in 2019:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Since this blog post is already long enough, I figured I would quickly list everything I learned over the past year.

  • Traveling solo is one of the most rewarding and life changing experiences. This was my first full year of solo travel and it was so liberating and freeing knowing that I didn’t need to rely on anyone else if I wanted to do a specific trip. I wish I started solo traveling a lot sooner.
  • Asking locals for restaurant recommendations is the best way to find amazing and authentic food.
  • No matter how many times an online business coach preaches, it’s unrealistic for most people to make 6-figures within one year.
  • If someone is going to thrive on past drama and negativity, say goodbye.
  • You’re never going to be happy if you continue to compare yourself to others or stick to a timeline.
  • Hard work always pays off.
  • Always follow up and never give up.
  • If you want something, always go the extra mile and you’ll be surprised how you’ll get what you want, plus more.
  • Always be kind.
  • Never travel for Instagram, you simply won’t enjoy your trip.
  • Social media helps grow a blog, but SEO and quality content is what makes a blog successful.
  • It’s perfectly okay to drop out of a wedding if the bride is treating you unfairly. You’re her friend, not her slave.
  • If a friend doesn’t understand your situation, they probably never will.
  • The right person will be okay with you traveling all of the time and pursuing your dreams.
  • You will never make money if you don’t invest.
  • Learn from who you want to be.
  • Spanish music will always put you in a better mood.
  • Meditation makes one heck of a difference.

This year, I traveled to 15 different countries, did two treks, visited two new states, revisited three countries, saw two Wonders of the World and flew over 85,000 miles. I am excited for what 2020 has in store and I’m looking forward to new travels and adventures, meeting new people and continuing to grow my blog and brand.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

May:

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

Taylor’s Year in Review 2019. Top Moments, Highlights and Lessons Learned in 2019.

September:

The month of September was rather relaxing for me. I didn’t go on any big trips and mainly spent weekends down the shore attending seafood and wine festivals. September is one of my favorite months throughout the year because the weather is absolutely beautiful and there are barely any crowds at the shore. The only downside to this month was that my website crashed and got hacked within a two-week time frame. It was the worst feeling ever, but I invested in security and all was good thankfully!

October:
