Unique Places to Spend New Year’s Eve

Fun New Year’s Eve Trips in North America:
New York City, USA:

It’s no secret that New York City is one of the best New Year Destinations in the USA. In addition to the world-famous Times Square ball drop at midnight, the city celebrates the New Year with massive fireworks at various places such as Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge. New York also has many special events and concerts performed during the entire night by musical bands and artists, for free, to add magic and vibes to the festive atmosphere.
During this time of the year, you can see the beautiful light decorations and Christmas markets at Rockefeller Center and other parts of NYC. It’s magical!
Since the ball drop is famous worldwide, many tourists flock to Midtown Manhattan in December. While visiting this area of NYC during New Year’s, plan your evening well in advance and make reservations at restaurants and bars ahead of time. (Many New Year’s celebrations in New York City are paid events, so you may have to purchase tickets to secure a spot.)
December through February are New York City’s coldest months. Temperatures during the holiday season range between the lower 30s°F to mid 40s°F. Dress warmly and layer up with a good coat, a scarf, gloves and boots. It’s also one of the best places to see a white Christmas and experience New Year’s Eve celebrations!
A great hotel to stay at near Times Square is the Intercontinental New York. With luxury and comfort, this property is the perfect place to ring in the New Year with style and class. Located within walking distance from Times Square is Hell’s Kitchen, which boasts some of the best restaurants in Midtown. Make reservations at Becco, an Italian restaurant famous for its unlimited three daily pasta preparations.

Walt Disney World, Florida, USA:

Nothing is more magical than letting in the New Year at Disney World!
Everyone will have the happiest New Year at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, from the spectacular fireworks display to the fun parades and festive Christmas decorations along Main Street USA to the thrilling rides.
When celebrating New Year’s at Walt Disney World, staying at a Magic Kingdom Resort like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort is best. Disney draws huge crowds for NYE and when leaving Magic Kingdom, you can easily hop on the monorail to your resort. These resorts also have amazing restaurants like California Grill Lounge at the Contemporary.
The weather in Orlando during the holiday season draws warm days and cooler evenings with temperatures ranging from the low 50s°F to the mid 70s°F. If you plan to spend the day at Magic Kingdom, you must bring a change of clothes or layer up because it gets chilly at night.
Some of the best tips for visiting Magic Kingdom for New Year’s Eve are to arrive at the park earlier and leave the park late to avoid insane lines and crowds. If you don’t want to wait in long lines, it’s best to get the FastPass+! Remember to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, line up early for shows and parades, stay hydrated, be patient and have fun!
Every year during the holiday season, the iconic Cinderella Castle is lit with dreamy lights and décor. Regarding Disney’s Countdown to Midnight: A New Year’s Eve Celebration, there are two fireworks shows – one at 6 pm for the kids and the other at midnight. Both are spectacular!
Disney’s Countdown to Midnight show has a live DJ, performances with Disney and Pixar characters and more. Don’t forget to join the fun at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
During a New Year’s trip to Disney in Orlando, Florida, getting the Park Hopper Pass to visit the other incredible Disney parks like Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios is recommended. Universal Orlando Resort also has a lot of fun rides, shows and activities for New Year’s!

Seattle, Washington, USA:

Seattle, Washington is one of the most unique places to spend New Year’s in the United States. It’s also one of the most beautiful cities in the Pacific Northwest!
Seattle’s spectacular fireworks show is legendary – pyrotechnics are shot off from the bottom to the top of the Space Needle, the city’s most iconic structure that resembles a spaceship. Recently, a drone show has been added to make the festivities even more dramatic. The show is broadcast internationally and used as the endcap to the Sydney to Seattle global fireworks displays.
The best place to enjoy the fireworks in Seattle is right below the Space Needle in the Seattle Center. Thousands count down until midnight below the 605-foot-tall structure yearly while live music accompanies the dance party.
For a slightly less chaotic place to take in the fireworks, consider heading to Alki Beach across Elliott Bay. To make an evening of it, reserve a table at one of the restaurants along the coastline, like Salty’s, and watch the sunset over the Olympic Mountains before the year ends.
As a bonus, Alki Beach is one of the best places to whale watch in Washington so you might catch sight of an orca or two while in the city.
After dinner, head over to the portion of the beach that faces the Space Needle. You’ll get unobstructed views of the fireworks show over the Seattle skyline. If you want to make a whole event of it, you can even join a polar plunge to the beach on New Year’s Day!
One of the best hotels in Seattle is Hotel 1000, which is part of LXR Hotels & Resorts. It’s situated near Pike Place and by the Seattle Great Wheel. It’s also near the city’s Space Needle and other famous landmarks.
Don’t forget to dress warm when welcoming in the New Year in Seattle. Temperatures range between the upper 30s°F to the upper 40s°F.

Everyone comes together to celebrate and have the biggest party! The best place to ring in the New Year in London, England is in Westminster, where the fireworks happen. Seeing Big Ben or the London Eye is always incredible, but witnessing them with fireworks behind them is magical!

Madrid, the lively capital of Spain, is a fantastic place to ring in the New Year for several reasons. The most important is that Madrid has an incredible nightlife! After midnight, you can keep the party going by visiting the city’s many bars and clubs.

Reykjavik, Iceland:

If you’re wondering where to ring in the New Year around the world, you cannot beat Reykjavik, Iceland. It’s one of the most unique places to spend New Year’s Eve!
After all, the capital of Iceland is an exciting place to celebrate since the city has 10 different New Year’s Eve Bonfires (Áramótabrenna), with three exceptionally giant ones in Rauõvatn, Geirsnef and Gufunes. Typically, these bonfires begin around 8:30 pm and people will stop by, hang out, create impromptu events and enjoy the holiday. (You may even catch the Northern Lights!)
However, most people eat dinner before they visit the local bonfires. If you want to enjoy a nice meal on New Year’s Eve, book a seat at the Gala Dinner at The Perlan. Not only will you get to sip on champagne and feast on smoked salmon with caviar, but you’ll also enjoy stellar city views from the Perlan. Make sure to dress up since this is a formal event in Iceland in December.
Then, once midnight rolls around, a fireworks display will commence where every person sets off their own fireworks throughout the city. As a result, the entire city explodes with light and color. The best place to enjoy the show is from the top deck of Perlan or Kópavogskirkja in Kopavogur.
Finally, spend the New Year at the luxurious Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel. This hotel sits inside a former department store and offers complimentary continental breakfast, floor-to-ceiling windows and an on-site spa.
Pack plenty of warm clothing since temperatures range from the upper 20s°F to the upper 30s°F. The city also gets around 14 days of precipitation, so bring plenty of waterproof layers.

Edinburgh, Scotland, U.K.:

A Scottish song, Auld Lang Syne, is sung throughout Edinburgh, Scotland to celebrate the New Year. The city of Edinburgh is one of the most unique places to spend New Year’s Eve!
The celebrations for New Year’s in Edinburgh aren’t just the culmination of one year and the start of the next; it’s also Hogmanay, a three-day festival that starts on December 30 and continues into New Year’s Day.
While all of Scotland celebrates Hogmanay, no one does it like Edinburgh. The city starts its festivities with a torchlight procession and hosts 75,000 revelers in activities ranging from discos to family-friendly events.
On New Year’s Eve proper, Hogmanay includes street parties, live bands, food vendors, fireworks, carnival rides and even a silent disco.
It’s hard to beat watching the fireworks exploding over Edinburgh Castle from one of the bridges, such as North or Waverly, between Old Town and New Town. Book a room at the Balmoral Hotel to stay as close to the celebration as possible. This famous hotel’s iconic clock tower is just steps from the Hogmanay street party.
Because New Year’s Eve is such a big deal in Edinburgh, you’ll want to book your accommodations, Hogmanay tickets and dinner reservations (especially if you want a nice sit-down meal somewhere like Pursiane Restaurant) well in advance.
Don’t forget that Scotland in January and during the holiday season are two things: dark and cold. Temperatures range from the mid 30s°F to the mid 40s°F. Pack your winter coat, stocking hat and glow sticks, and prepare for a celebration you’ll never forget.

Florence, Italy:

While you can be in any Italian city for the New Year and have a fantastic experience, Florence is the country’s best location!
Florence, Italy is packed with festive New Year’s decorations and fireworks, and locals and travelers celebrate together. No matter how you decide to ring in the New Year in Florence, celebration and festivities beat through even the smallest streets within the city center.
There’s no better way to ring in the New Year than in Italian style, which is in the grand Florentine squares around midnight! The evening leading up to the midnight bells (starting around 7 pm) is packed with musical events, including live concerts, usually with a classical music program, various children’s shows, circuses and parades.
Each year, the program changes, but festivities remain free to the public year after year. Even though many New Year celebrations are outdoors, the climate is mild and temperate. Dress with a coat, light scarf and hat. Temperatures range from the mid 40s°F to the mid 50s°F.
Once the clock strikes 12 am, you can expect an eruption from the squares as people cheer and drink to celebrate the New Year. It’s tradition to brindare, or cheers, to everyone around you, not just those within your party, so expect some Italian love from all corners of whichever piazza you are in. The most beautiful and famous celebrations are in Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Santa Croce, Piazza Santo Spirito, Piazza di Santa Maria Novella, Piazza della Signoria and Piazza del Duomo.
For indoor concerts and events, you’ll need to pre-book tickets. The schedule usually comes out in November or early December. The most famous concert is the New Year’s Eve concert held at the Teatro dell’Opera, making Florence one of the most unique places to spend the holiday.
If you wish to get a glimpse of the many fireworks shows that set off at midnight, either climb to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo or San Miniato del Monte from the San Niccolò tower or head to Fiesole, a small hilltop town just above Florence, on the opposite side from the Piazzale.
If you like to ring in the New Year with dancing, check out Tenax Club or Space Club, two of Florence’s most popular dance spots.
Make a dinner reservation well in advance for New Year’s in Florence. Il Santo Bevitore is one of the city’s best local joints, offering classic Italian cuisine with a modern twist. L’Angolo del Mare is the best restaurant for fish and Chic Nonna is Florence’s newest contemporary restaurant.
Please note that a lot of Florence’s shops, cafés, pizzerias and museums may be closed on New Year’s Day. Instead, take advantage of the state-run museums, which are always open on January 1st. Some of the best are the Museo Novecento, Palazzo Vecchio Museum and the Santa Maria Novella Museum.
Book Antica Torre Hotel, centrally located on the famously decorated Via dè Tornabuoni, for a luxury New Year’s stay. For a boutique experience, SoprArno Suites offers 13 individually designed rooms.
Additionally, don’t miss the famous Christmas market in Piazza Santa Croce, leading up to the New Year and the famous Procession of the Magi in celebration of the Epiphany on January 6th.

Valencia, Spain:

Another one of the most unique places to spend New Year’s Eve in Europe is Valencia, Spain. The best place to celebrate is the City Hall Square. People gather here in the thousands, bringing bottles of cava (Spanish sparkling wine) and grapes.
Like everywhere else in Spain, Valencia rings in the New Year with the 12 grapes tradition. This consists of eating 12 grapes for good luck as midnight strikes.
Fireworks mark the passage into a New Year, usually fired right from the top of the City Hall. The fireworks display is only a few minutes long but has a lot and is followed by street parties on the beats of music skillfully shuffled by DJs from the City Hall balcony.
Due to Valencia’s mild Mediterranean climate with comfortable temperatures that typically range from the mid 40s°F to the low 60s°F, staying out for hours and dancing in the streets until the early morning is popular.
Before heading to the City Hall Square, book a table at the elegant Llisa Negra restaurant, which is a short walk away. This elegant restaurant offers a high-end dining experience, perfect for the occasion.
The best accommodation in the city is Hotel One Shot Palacio Reina Victoria 04, centrally located in Valencia and to all the festivities.
Aside from the New Year’s festivities, you cannot miss other Valencia attractions, such as the historic Old Town and the multitude of nativity scenes on display in many churches this time of year.

Best New Year’s Eve in Asia & Australia:
Sydney, Australia:

Sydney is one of the best places to visit for New Year’s. Besides having one of the biggest fireworks shows in the world, it’s one of the first cities to say Happy New Year. While the whole world will be watching a Sydney fireworks display, you will be attending it live during your time in Australia.
There are plenty of options to see the fireworks and countdown to the New Year at Sydney Harbour. If you wish to attend the fireworks for free, be prepared to camp from early morning (or even sooner). Barangaroo Reserve, Mrs. Macquarie’s Point, West Circular Quay, parts of the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden and other famous spots are where you can watch the fireworks without paying.
If celebrating New Year’s Eve in Australia is one of your travel bucket list activities and a once-in-a-lifetime event, a better but more expensive option is to go on a New Year’s Eve Sydney Harbour cruise.
Your celebration will begin in Darling Harbour, where you will be spoiled for the evening. Depending on the cruise, you can have an entire board, with all meals and alcohol included. There will be two fireworks displays, including a kids’ fireworks show at 9 pm. Overall, you’ll have the best views on a cruise and there’s nothing like dancing the night away with a DJ onboard.
The New Year’s Eve cruise will end around 2 am. For the best options to stay in Sydney, check-in at one of the hotels in Darling Harbour. One of the best is Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour.
Since New Year’s is during Australia’s summer, bring a swimsuit to visit one of the many beaches, like Bondi Beach or Manly Beach. Also, don’t skip Taronga Zoo! Temperatures range from the mid 80s°F to the mid 60s°F.
For a top-notch dining experience with a view of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, book a table at Café Sydney.

Dubai, UAE:

The city of Dubai is one of the best places in the world to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Overall, Dubai does everything BIG and celebrating the New Year is no exception!
The city hosts one of the planet’s largest New Year’s celebrations. The iconic Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, has a fireworks show that is one of the most broadcasted New Year’s events.
At midnight on December 31st, all eyes are peeled on Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain, from where you can watch a spectacular firework, light and laser show combined with the renowned dancing fountain. It’s nothing short of extraordinary!
For the best views of the fireworks, you can book a table at one of the many restaurants in Dubai Mall, Soul Al Bahar and on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, or snag your spot at Burj Khalifa Park. The outdoor patio at Joe’s Café has some of the best views!
If you want to celebrate in style and beat the crowds, rent a yacht for a private New Year’s Eve party at an hourly rate with a captain. The boats usually accommodate 12 guests or more. On this yacht cruise, you can enjoy Dubai’s most iconic landmarks to get the best views of the fireworks.
Another exciting alternative is the luxurious New Year’s Eve Gala dinner at Atlantis, The Palm with a buffet-style dinner, live music, celebrities, exclusive fireworks and champagne. Atlantis is also a great place to stay! The hotel has a waterpark and private beach on the man-made palm island with striking views of Dubai Marina.
The best part of spending NYE in Dubai is the weather. Daytime temperatures in December are pleasant, ranging from the mid to upper 70s°F. Compared to destinations like snowy Vancouver, being in Dubai during winter is a treat!
After partying the night away, you can start the New Year on a high note by desert safari riding with camels at sunset or sunbathing at La Mer, JBR or Kite Beach.

Bangkok, Thailand:

Thinking about where to spend the New Year in Asia? Consider celebrating in Thailand if you are in the mood for something exotic and want to enjoy the best parties. In the “Land of Smiles,” you can escape the cold winter weather and get plenty of sun and good cheer.
Bangkok’s megacity is home to Thailand’s most remarkable and prominent New Year’s Eve party. There are no limits to how you can celebrate in the Thai capital!
Book a table at one of Bangkok’s best rooftop bars, where you can watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks from a unique perspective. A great choice is Red Sky Rooftop Bar & Restaurant. The unique thing about this mega-chic bar is the location, as this fantastic place is located on the 55th floor, just below the bar on the roof of the Centara building.
If you feel like something more wild, Khao San Road is a popular party mile lined with nightclubs and bars. It’s the leading place to be filled with tourists, backpackers and locals who gather to ring in the New Year.
For a perfect stay, the Amara Bangkok Hotel is a top-tier choice in the city. A highlight is the stunning Sky Bar with a pool and breathtaking views of Bangkok’s skyline.
On New Year’s Day, escape the hangover and head to one of the many paradise islands near Bangkok, where you can relax with vitamin shakes, affordable spa treatments and turquoise waters. Temperatures range from the low 70s°F to the low 90s°F.

Goa, India:

One of the most unique places to spend New Year’s Eve in Asia is Goa in Western India. Goa has been known as a party hotspot worldwide! The former Portuguese colony is 400 miles south of Mumbai amidst the Wester Ghat jungles.
Overall, being in Goa means soaking up the sun at one of the 35 beaches and meeting diverse visitors from all world cultures.
Outdoor trance and techno events add to the charm and uniqueness of Northern Goa. One of the largest electronic music festivals, Sunburn, takes place in Anjuna during New Year’s and the most well-known artists appear here every year.
Beach shacks across Goa organize fun parties for New Year’s. Trance and techno dominate the ambiance between Anjuna and Arambol Beach, and Bollywood, pop and hip-hop come into play between Dona Paul and Baga Beach.
Families will prefer the much quieter south of the state. Palolem, for instance, offers a dazzling beach landscape and a quiet bay reminiscent of the movie “The Beach.” Besides, firework displays are more visible and better organized at Palolem Beach, especially from the elevated rock sunset point.
Whichever area you choose to spend your last night of the year, north or south Goa, you will find spectacular properties to stay at. This includes the Westin by Marriott in Anjuna, the LaLit Golf and Spa Resort near Palolem or the stunning Alila Diwa Goa by Hyatt in Majorda.
While in Goa, make sure to try authentic Indian food. Reserve a table at Gunpowder, the best South Indian dining experience, or dine at the iconic 90-year-old Souza Lobo Beach restaurant known for its Goan seafood menu at Calangute Beach.
Complete your journey to Goa with a day trip or two to Dudhsagar Falls, the old Goa churches and the fascinating Mahadev Tambdi Surla Temple.
Luckily, the weather is always sunny during New Year’s in Goa and temperatures range between the lower 70s°F to the lower 90s°F.

Abu Dhabi, UAE:

December and January in Abu Dhabi are the most incredible months of the year in the Emirate, making it an ideal place to enjoy a sunshine-filled festive season.
A top reason why Abu Dhabi is one of the most unique places to spend New Year’s Eve in the world is because it holds a world record for the longest-ever firework display on NYE, lasting 40 minutes and featuring 3,000 drones.
Across the Emirate, there are many places to enjoy New Year’s celebrations and fireworks displays. The best are at Al Wathba, which is essentially in the desert, making it quite a unique spot. The others are on the Al Maryah Island Waterfront as well as the Yas Bay Waterfront.
Al Maryah Island can be busy during New Year’s Eve. One of the top things to do when it comes to enjoying the fireworks and festivities without crowds is to check into the Rosewood Abu Dhabi with a sea view for the ultimate enjoyment of the incredible show at midnight.
Aside from the fireworks, the hotel has an excellent outdoor rooftop bar with insane avatar-like structures, adding to New Year’s magic. Serving up delicious cocktails and tasty bites with the backdrop of the sea and Abu Dhabi skyline makes it an exceptional experience.

Best Cities for New Year’s in Latin America:
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is one of the most famous destinations for spending the New Year due to the fireworks show at Copacabana Beach.
Every year, the city hosts a massive event at the beach, with concerts happening during the entire night. The main attraction of the evening is the midnight fireworks show, which lasts over 12 minutes. The Copacabana Beach event gathers millions of people every year and is free of charge.
Please note that transportation is limited during NYE. The best way to get to Copacabana Beach to watch the fireworks is by public transport. In fact, it’s the only option for getting close to the beach since taxis and cars are not allowed inside.
As the beach gets crowded, all the hotels at Copacabana Beach host exclusive rooftop parties. Tickets need to be booked in advance and are usually available whether you’re a guest of the hotel or not. Getting a ticket to one of these parties is not only the most comfortable option to attend the fireworks show but also a high-class experience as they are primarily all-inclusive parties.
Some of the best hotels in Copacabana are the Copacabana Palace, Hilton Copacabana Hotel and Emiliano Rio. Since the New Year happens in the middle of summer in Brazil, temperatures range from the low 80s°F to over 100°F.

London, England, U.K.:

London is another one of the best places in the world to celebrate New Year’s Eve! London is famous for its New Year’s celebrations, broadcast throughout the U.K. on BBC, the leading television channel. Usually, you can tune in from anywhere in the world, too.
In typical British fashion, the weather is awful during the holiday season. London is wet and cold, with temperatures ranging from the mid 30s°F to the upper 40s°F, but the atmosphere is always incredible!
Everyone comes together to celebrate and have the biggest party! The best place to ring in the New Year in London, England is in Westminster, where the fireworks happen. Seeing Big Ben or the London Eye is always incredible, but witnessing them with fireworks behind them is magical!
Once the fireworks are over, Auld Lang Syne is played, a Scottish song. Learn the music beforehand, sing along and enjoy the best dance party. It’s one of the most memorable events you’ll participate in during a trip to London for NYE.
If you stay in London during the holiday season, you should also check out Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, precisely what the name suggests – Santa’s Grottos, ice skating, Christmas markets and more.
One of the best hotels in London is Riu Plaza London Victoria, a 4-star hotel in the Westminster Borough. (Staying near the New Year’s celebrations is vital on December 31st.)

Dubrovnik, Croatia:

Dubrovnik is one of the best unique places to spend New Year’s Eve worldwide and it’s easy to see why!
First off, the mild winter weather is ideal for enjoying outdoor festivities like concerts and Christmas markets. While December typically sees some rainfall, there are still plenty of fun activities to escape the rain in Dubrovnik. Temperatures also range from the mid 40s°F to the lower 50s°F.
Weather aside, Dubrovnik gets into full-on party mode, with New Year’s celebrations starting early in the morning and lasting all day. The party atmosphere is city-wide, but Stradun, the main street in the Old Town, is the hotspot! In the evening, live music fills the air and a massive fireworks display lights up the sky when the clock strikes midnight.
Ringing in the New Year in Dubrovnik is not just a one-night affair; New Year’s Day boasts an exceptional performance by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra in the main square. This live performance adds a unique cultural touch to all the festivities.
For accommodations, Pucic Palace is your best bet! Located in the heart of the Old Town, Pucic Palace is within walking distance of all major attractions. For a fine dining experience, head to Restaurant 360, but if you’re looking for something casual and local, Barba is your spot!

Madrid, Spain:

Madrid, the lively capital of Spain, is a fantastic place to ring in the New Year for several reasons. The most important is that Madrid has an incredible nightlife! After midnight, you can keep the party going by visiting the city’s many bars and clubs.
If you’re looking for a great place to watch fireworks and the countdown, Puerta del Sol is the place to be. This famous public square in Madrid is like Times Square in New York, where most locals gather on New Year’s Eve. Large crowds come together to enjoy the fantastic fireworks shows. It’s important to arrive a few hours early to get a good spot!
In Madrid, there’s a lovely tradition where you eat 12 grapes as the New Year begins, one with each chime of the clock. This fun local custom is thought to bring good luck for the upcoming year!
It’s a unique experience that might make you forget that the holiday season in Madrid is usually cold and dry, with temperatures ranging from the lower 40s°F to the lower 50s°F. (The chance to see snow in Spain does have its own irresistible allure.)

It’s located in the Chueca neighborhood and offers the perfect stylish setting to return to after your New Year’s Eve celebration in Madrid.

Additionally, there’s plenty of local ice skating around the city during this time.
There’s no better place to ring in the New Year than Prague, Czech Republic. The city hosts a spectacular fireworks display over the Vltava River, with the iconic Prague Castle in the background. It’s a mesmerizing sight and one of Europe’s largest New Year’s fireworks shows.
Overall, Prague has something for everyone, making it one of the best New Year’s Eve destinations! The city offers a variety of cultural events, from classical concerts to lively parties, so no matter your preference, you’ll find it here.
When visiting Prague during the Christmas season, it’s best to stay at the Augustine Hotel or the Four Seasons Hotel Prague, which are centrally located. If you stay at the Four Seasons, you can watch the fireworks from your window!
Expect chilly weather in Prague during the holiday season, with temperatures ranging from the upper 20s°F to the mid 30s°F. Pack warm clothing, including a winter coat, gloves and a scarf.

Singapore:

Singapore is one of the top NYE destinations. Overall, Singapore goes all out on December 31st, which is why it’s one of the best destinations to ring in the New Year around the world!
The biggest highlight is the massive fireworks at midnight, located on Marina Bay. It draws huge crowds, so show up early for a great spot.
Many restaurants in the city offer special menus for New Year’s Eve. Making a reservation early is essential, as things book quickly. Ce La Vi is an incredible restaurant on top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel; it has one of the top views of the bay.
During the last day of the year, visit Sentosa Island. It boasts fancy beach clubs that celebrate all day long. A Duck Tour through Singapore is also great fun with ample time. Lastly, you must check out Gardens By the Bay and the Jewel at Changi Airport.

While in town, don’t miss the opportunity to visit Christ the Redeemer (one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World), the Sugar Loaf mountain and the amazing beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
