Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Morocco has been one of my top travel destinations for the past few years and it was such a dream to experience the south of the country in late April 2019 with We Are Travel Girls. From the breathtaking culture to the dreamy architecture and the delicious food to the stunning historical sites there are so many reasons why you will fall in love with this enchanting North African country.

We Are Travel Girls is a global travel community created to inspire, connect, educate and empower female travelers around the world. They have a community Instagram page and blog that features female travelers from all over the globe; they host casual meet-ups with inspirational speakers and panel discussions in major global cities such as New York, Los Angeles and London; they give back to countries and fundraise to charitable organizations and they host luxury and bespoke retreats (Travel Girls Getaways) for professional women who are in their mid to late 20s through mid-age. I attended their blogging retreat in Bali, Indonesia back in October 2018 and truly enjoyed everything about the trip from the luxury accommodations to the unique activities and excursions. Currently, We Are Travel Girls host Travel Girls Getaways in Morocco (which is the trip I am writing about in this blog post), Malawi and Turkey. As a female traveler, I love how Travel Girls Getaways provide escapes to beautiful destinations worldwide that I wouldn’t feel comfortable traveling to solely by myself. (As much as I love traveling solo, there are certain destinations (unfortunately) that aren’t safe for women. I am hoping, at some point in time, that this changes because there are so many amazing places to see in this world.) In addition, I love how I am able to meet so many like-minded, professional and mature female travelers on Travel Girls Getaways.

Ps. Becky and Anna were great hosts on this trip and made it even more memorable!

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During our weeklong trip through Southern Morocco, we mainly stayed in Marrakech, but did a road trip to Ouarzazate to see the breathtaking Kasbah Aït Benhaddou and then made our way to the Sahara Desert for a luxury glamping experience. We also did a day trip to the gorgeous coastal town of Essaouira during our time in Marrakech. Click here to read my blog post on the top places to see in Southern Morocco.

About Marrakech:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech (also known as the red city) is a fascinating city located in Southern Morocco at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. What was once an imperial city is now a thriving cultural center.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Situated in the heart of Marrakech is the bustling medina. It features beautiful ancient walls, 20 gates, a central courtyard, the souk (an Arab market), enchanting palaces, beautiful mosques, stunning gardens, amazing restaurants, interesting museums, as well as gorgeous hotels and riads (see below for more information on a riad).

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Outside of the medina are stunning resorts, nature centers, country clubs and so much more. During our time in Marrakech, we got to experience the city both inside the medina as well as outside.

When to Travel to Morocco:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

If you are deciding on when to travel to Morocco, it is recommended that you go either in the heart of the fall or spring seasons. I traveled during the month of April and the weather was perfect during most of our days exploring. It was on average in the 80’s (Fahrenheit), except for a day in Marrakech where it was nearing 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Another great month to travel to Morocco is in November, where temperatures are similar to how they are in April. If you travel to Morocco in the heart of the summer, you could experience temperatures between 110 and 120 on certain days. In the winter, however, you could experience colder temperatures (between 40 – 60 degrees Fahrenheit). Two other great months to travel to Morocco are October and March.

The Culture in Marrakech:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Morocco is predominately a Muslim country. In fact, Morocco was the first country that I’ve visited where Islam is the main religion. In the past, I had been to countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Malta where Islam is practiced by a large group of people, but Morocco was where I was able to truly immerse myself in this beautiful religion.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During my time in Morocco, I heard the beautiful Call to Prayer five times throughout the day. Called Salat, this obligatory Muslim prayer is performed at dawn, midday, later in the afternoon, dusk and a few hours before midnight. You will hear it in your hotel/riad, throughout the city and even in the countryside, desert and mountains. It is so peaceful!

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Overall, the culture in Marrakech is strongly influenced by Arab and Islamic civilizations because of the large Berber population. The Berbers are the largest ethnic group in Morocco, but in Marrakech, the main language spoken is Arabic. The Berber language is still significant and spoken in the mountainous regions within the country and French is also a popular language within Morocco. A lot of Moroccans also know English well, especially in Marrakech and at your hotel/riad.

What to Wear in Morocco

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

In regards to the dress code, it is important to note that your shoulders and knees should always be covered when you’re out in public. I will admit that I wore shorts and a tank top during my 10-hour road trip, but I was in the car all day and didn’t really get out unless it was to go to the bathroom at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere. Throughout the trip, I mainly wore maxi and midi dresses because they covered my knees and I also wore a jumpsuit one day. Nowadays, it is very hard to find dresses that fully cover you, meaning that there is usually a sweetheart neckline, an open cut-out back, etc. I found that most of the dresses I brought with me to Morocco had this issue, so I used a scarf to wrap around my shoulders. I also brought a denim jacket that worked well with most of my outfits.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

A few other items of clothing that I brought with me to Morocco were black leggings (this was perfect for my time in the desert), harem pants (for when I went camel riding), longer skirts, linen pants, comfortable and dressy sandals, sneakers and a swimsuit (to swim in my riad’s pool).

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Men should also be covered up when they are traveling through Morocco. It isn’t ideal for a man to wear shorts and/or a tank top. Their knees should be covered as well as their shoulders too.

Getting to and Around Marrakech:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Getting to Marrakech, Morocco from the New York City area will usually require a layover in another city. It is honestly easier to get a non-stop flight to Casablanca instead, but since I wasn’t traveling through Northern Morocco, I flew from JFK in New York to Marrakech Menara Airport with a layover in Madrid. Since I traveled to Morocco in April, which is considered high season, the flight prices were a little high, but I ended up scoring a great deal through Skyscanner!

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Traveling within Marrakech is fairly safe, but I definitely do not recommend wandering around alone at night. Although Morocco is safe for solo travelers, I am honestly happy I traveled there with a group because I was able to take in everything without having to be on guard.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

What I love most about Moroccans are that they are so nice and accommodating. The staff at my riads throughout my stay in Morocco always ensured we were safe and if you had to go somewhere on your own, a staff member from the hotel or riad would walk you to your prospective destination or even to your taxi.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

There are taxis all around Marrakech, so you definitely won’t have trouble finding one. What was nice about staying in a hotel/riad in Marrakech is that the hotel staff could even call a cab for you and negotiate the price. (Always ensure you negotiate cab fare in Morocco as a lot of foreigners have been taken advantage of financially.) Other ways to get around Marrakech is by caliche, which is a horse and carriage as well as the city bus. During our time in the city, we were able to walk to most places and since we were on a tour, we had our own private van with us.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

If you are traveling around Morocco, I highly recommend taking the train, hopping on a flight or renting a car!

Staying in a Riad in Morocco:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

A trip to Morocco would definitely not be complete without staying in a riad, which is a traditional Moroccan house or palace that has an interior garden, fountain or courtyard located in the center. It is by far the BEST experience and offers an authentic oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of the city outside.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

One thing you will notice in the medina is that a riad is usually hidden behind a secret door. That is because riads were a place for family privacy and protection. Because of the lack of windows in a riad, a garden and courtyard are placed at the center to feel like you’re in nature.

The Best Luxury Riad – Almaha Marrakech & Spa:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During my stay in Marrakech through We Are Travel Girls, I had the luxury of staying at the enchanting Riad Almaha located in the heart of the Kasbah (walled city) of Marrakech. This beautiful riad has an outdoor heated swimming pool; a roof terrace with mountain and medina views; a Hammam spa (I go into this below) with a plunge pool, Jacuzzi, steam rooms and treatment spaces; a library and dining room; an art-filled lounge space for a drink; a central courtyard with romantic seating alcoves and lush plants as well as gorgeous and spacious rooms with stunning bathrooms. When you first walk into Almaha, you enter into the reception area where there are stunning Moroccan lamps and a bookshelf that opens into what feels like a royal palace.

Riad Almaha offers 12 beautiful rooms and suites that feature exotic scents of orange blossom, carved cedar wood, a fireplace, beautiful rugs and polished stone. The rooms also offer one set of comfortable double beds that are dressed in Egyptian cotton. The en-suite bathrooms also offer marble and tadelakt with deep soaking tubs and a private shower. Inside the rooms and suites are also secret alcoves, beautiful details, a flatscreen TV, mini refrigerator with complimentary soft drinks and some of the rooms also have access to the private roof terrace or patio. (I was lucky that my roommate Robynne and I had access to the patio.) There is a Deluxe Room, Junior Suite with Patio (which is the room we stayed in), Junior Suite with Private Terrace, Suite with Private Terrace and Senior Suite with Private Terrace.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

There is free WiFi at Almaha, but it only works in the courtyard area. (Ps. The WiFi in general is very weak in Morocco, so I recommend getting a SIM card when you arrive at the airport or getting your own hotspot VPN.)

The Best Boutique Riad – Ryad Dyor Marrakech:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Located in the medina is the super chic and earthy Ryad Dyor. This beautiful riad is considered one of the top boutique hotels in Marrakech and offers a warm and relaxing atmosphere. My friend Ashley stayed at this adorable riad her first day in Marrakech and brought our other friend Jackie and myself there to check it out. The owner was very welcoming to us and we were treated to delicious Moroccan mint tea and pastries.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Ryad Dyor has a gorgeous roof terrace that overlooks Marrakech and the surrounding mountains and it is where you could relax, enjoy food and stargaze. There is also a Hammam spa and plunge pool with treatment spaces and a hot tub. In addition, there is also in-house dining where you could savor traditional Moroccan home cooking.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

The riad also offers a beautiful fountain and courtyard area to relax and there are personalized rooms and suites where each one is unique from each other. The rooms embody the spirit of traditional Moroccan decoration and art through the architecture, mosaic and fabrics.

Where to Eat in Marrakech:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Almaha: Since I stayed at Riad Almaha, it is easy to say that I ate there the most. Every morning for breakfast, they would put out a nice spread of fresh Moroccan breads, khobz (a thick bread) and msemmem (pan fried dough). These breads were so delicious, especially the msemmem, and it was nice to pair them both with fresh fruity jams. In addition, Almaha would also serve fresh orange juice (Morocco has some pretty good OJ), fresh fruit, eggs, pound cake, Moroccan mint tea and coffee. In addition, we enjoyed this lovely breakfast at various locations within the riad such as The Library dining room, in the courtyard as well as up on the terrace.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

In addition to breakfast, I also ate dinner at Almaha two nights. On my first night I enjoyed a delicious chicken couscous dish and on the other night I savored a comforting chicken tagine – a traditional dish cooked in a clay pot. During your time in Morocco, you will probably savor A LOT of tagine. You could get it with any type of meat, fish or even have it vegetarian style. Almost every restaurant in Morocco serves it and it contains fresh vegetables, turmeric, saffron and ginger. It’s delicious!

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Café Arabe: If you are walking through the medina, I highly recommend making your way to Café Arabe for either lunch, dinner, a snack or a drink. After touring some of Marrakech’s historical gems, our group enjoyed a lunch and drinks at Café Arabe. This dreamy restaurant has a terrace that overlooks Marrakech, gorgeous dining and living rooms, a patio and also a bar.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

This wonderful restaurant offers both Moroccan and Italian cuisine, so you could enjoy traditional dishes as well as pasta meals. I had the salmon and it was great! In addition, during your time in Morocco, you can get alcohol, but the drinking culture isn’t huge there. If you are traveling to Morocco (or any Muslim country) during Ramadan, it is almost impossible to get alcohol since it is prohibited during this time.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Comptoir Darna: During our second night in Marrakech, we got to experience a little bit of the city’s nightlife by attending a fun Moroccan dinner show. Located in the popular Hivernage area of Marrakech, you could find the best nightlife and attractions in the city. This area also boasts Marrakech’s most popular hotels such as the La Mamounia and Hotel La Maison Arabe.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

At Comptoir Darna, there is a restaurant, nightclub and a patio. During our time here, we enjoyed the authentic and magical Oriental Dancing show where women came out wearing gorgeous sequin outfits and balanced a candelabra that held several lit candles on their heads. It was such a fun experience! During our time there, we savored vegetarian Moroccan briouat, which is similar to a spring roll, a chicken dish as well as a lemon ice cream for dessert.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Amal: During your stay in Marrakech, it is a MUST to visit Amal – a Marrakech-based non-profit association that is dedicated to the empowerment of disadvantaged women through culinary skills. Founded by Nora Fitzgerald Belahcen, Amal’s goal is to help women through restaurant training and job placement, which is a stepping-stone to economic and social stability. When trainees are selected, they go through a six-month training program to learn all aspects of work in a professional kitchen. After completion, Amal graduates gain financial independence at restaurants, hotels, riads and private homes.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

After walking through the souk, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at this wonderful spot, which helped support the training programs run by Amal. In addition to eating at the café, you could also help support Amal’s program by taking a cooking class or signing up for their school lunch program. In addition, Amal has a social mission to commit to environmental sustainability by having zero waste in their facilities. They teach their trainees water reclamation and composting and they also have a community garden. Their leftover food is also served to goats from the Center Terre d’eveil – a neighboring non-profit holistic health center and Amal’s cooking oil is recycled into fragrant natural soaps there.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Through reservation only, you could enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Amal. We enjoyed an appetizer, entrée and dessert and each dish offered a lot of delicious items. For an appetizer, I had the chicken tacos; lunch was a fried local fish with salsa and rice and then dessert consisted of an amazing molten chocolate cake with mint tea. Overall, it was absolutely AMAZING!

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

La Mamounia: Known as the Number One Hotel on the African continent and recognized as the Number One Hotel in the World in 2018, a trip to Marrakech would not be complete without visiting La Mamounia. The rooms at the La Mamounia are very expensive and if they are a little too pricey for your budget, I highly recommend booking a lovely lunch or dinner reservation at one of La Mamounia‘s four restaurants: Le Marocain, Italian Restaurant Marrakech, Le Français and Le Pavilion de la Piscine.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During our time at La Mamounia, our group ate outside on the patio of the Italian restaurant. We savored delicious fresh bread with olive oil; then for an appetizer, I had the fresh burrata with pesto. For my main course, I had a light spaghetti pomodoro dish and then for dessert, it was a light tiramisu. Everything was delicious and all of the ingredients come fresh from La Mamounia’s gardens.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

After your delicious meal, I highly recommend walking around the hotel’s grounds. There are gorgeous gardens and boutiques. Please note though that you can’t walk through the entire hotel since it is closed off to just guests. Either way, it is absolutely stunning and by just stepping foot into the reception area is an enchanting experience.

La Maison Arabe: Another luxury hotel in Marrakech to visit for dinner is the infamous Le Maison Arabe. After returning to Marrakech from our day trip to Essaouira, we had a beautiful dinner by the pool at Le Restaurant.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

With an exclusive Moroccan cuisine, I enjoyed a delicious seafood couscous dish that was amazing! We also were served tasty spreads and appetizers that were delicious.

Le Grande Café de la Poste: Our last night in Marrakech was enjoyed at the beautiful Grande Café De La Poste. This wonderful French restaurant was once a renowned coffee and postal relay and now serves as a delicious eatery.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During my dinner here, I savored razor clams in a white wine sauce with shrimp skewers and rice as my entrée. For dessert, I had a delicious apple tarte. Everything was amazing! In addition, throughout our time in Morocco, we enjoyed rosé with all of our meals. It is very refreshing in this wonderful country.

Things to See and Do in Marrakech:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Koutoubia Mosque

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

The Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque in Marrakech and is definitely a must-see while you are there. We did not go inside the mosque though because it isn’t open to non-Muslims, but it is very beautiful to see from the outside.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

As I mention above, there is a Call to Prayer five times a day and during your time in Marrakech, you could hear the Salat rise from the Koutoubia Mosque. Back in the day, the original mosque was built by Almoravid architects, but it wasn’t properly aligned with Mecca, so the Almohads built a realigned one that sits there today.

Bahia Palace

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

One of the most enchanting sites we visited during our time in Morocco was Bahia Palace. Built in the late 19th Century, this astonishing palace offers floor-to-ceiling decorations by Grand Vizier Si Moussa and Abu ‘Bou’ Ahmed. Earlier in the 20th Century, the palace charmed and entertained French guests.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Nowadays, Bahia Palace has only a portion opened to the public and it is absolutely stunning to see. There is a beautiful grand courtyard, peaceful gardens, stunning architecture and so much more.

Ps. During our time in Morocco, the Christian Dior 2020 Fashion Show took place in this beautiful palace. Although we didn’t go, I did see photos and it looked absolutely magical!

Saadian Tombs

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Situated near the Kasbah Mosque are the Saadian Tombs, the former resting place of royalty. Sultan al-Ghalib Abdullah constructed the fist tomb to contain the body of his father and the founder of the Saadian Empire, Mohammed ash-Sheikh. Sultan Ahmed el Mansour, who was the final Saadian ruler, later constructed the major buildings within the Saadian tombs to commemorate and honor the lives close to him.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Overall, the graveyard was in use from the mid 16th Century to the mid 17th Century. It is a beautiful site to visit.

Place des Épices (Spice Market)

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

From saffron to turmeric and argan oil to flavorful essential oils, the Spice Market in the medina is bursting with all different flavors, scents and colors. This lively area is where you could see herbalists and spice traders sell their goods and you could even go into a shop and learn more about Moroccan spices and oils.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

As we strolled through the Spice Market, our tour guide Hassan took us into a spice shop where we got an educational experience on the different spices and oils that are sold in Morocco. I highly recommend doing this during your time in Marrakech. We even got to purchase a few goodies such as natural soaps, essential oils and cooking spices.

The Souk

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

One of the best experiences in Morocco is getting lost in the souks, which is an open-air Arab market. Just like at the markets in Southeast Asia, the souks of Marrakech are a bustling space where you could find some beautiful handmade gems, artisanal crafts and home décor with the thrill of haggling the prices for them.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Local Arabs would come to the souks to purchase their essential items. The souk of Marrakech is located in the heart of the city and medina. When you are in the medina itself, you will notice many gates because it sits on an important trading route for not only Moroccans, but also other Africans from nearby countries. Most merchants would travel to Marrakech’s souks through camels and donkeys with caravans.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Nowadays, you could find beautiful Moroccan rugs; gorgeous lanterns; hand-woven hats and bags; stunning throw pillows; breathtaking pottery items; talented paintings; trendy clothing, shoes and jewelry; food items and other lavish home décor items within the souk.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

It is extremely easy to get lost in the souks and not find your way out. During our time in the souks, my friends and I actually ended up getting lost and thankfully found our way out. If you start to panic and/or are alone, I highly recommend asking a woman for directions.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During my time in the souks, I purchased a hand-woven beach bag, a cute hat as well as a throw pillow for my bed at home.

Jardin Majorelle (Majorelle Gardens)

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Another gorgeous place you must visit in Marrakech is the colorful Majorelle Gardens. One of the main reasons why this garden is so special is because it took French painter Jacques Majorelle 40 years to create this beautiful space.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

As you stroll around the Majorelle Gardens, you could walk through a bamboo forest, admire the fountains and ponds that feature beautiful lily pads and lotus flowers, enjoy the colorful architecture and see the hints of Art Deco all around. I also highly recommend visiting the Majorelle Gardens in the morning because it gets very crowded.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

The Majorelle Gardens play a big significance in the life of Yves Saint Laurent as he first discovered it in 1966 and fell in love with the peacefulness it offered. In 1980, YSL and Pierre Bergé bought the Majorelle Gardens and saved it from becoming a hotel. There are now new owners of the Majorelle Gardens and it has around 300 plant species, beautiful walking trails and there is also a museum dedicated to the Berber culture in Morocco.

Musée Yves Saint Laurent

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Located right next to the Majorelle Gardens is the Yves Saint Lauren Museum that is dedicated to the life of YSL. Within the museum, you could learn about Yves, take a close look at his collection, walk through an exhibition hall, admire the architecture of the building, purchase goodies at the gift shop and enjoy a snack in the café.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Prior to coming to the museum, I didn’t know much about YSL’s life, but learned a lot during this experience. Please note that you are not allowed to take photos in the exhibition halls.

Cooking Workshop at La Maison Arabe and Costume Gala Dinner at the Country Club

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

One of the most fun and memorable activities during my time in Marrakech with We Are Travel Girls was taking a cooking class and enjoying the food we made at the dreamy Country Club at La Maison Arabe.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During our cooking workshop, we each had our own working stations that included a LCD screen to show a close-up view of our instructor preparing the meal, a stove and a cutting board. (We also were served rosé as we cooked, which was a plus.) For our appetizer, we prepared zaalook salad, which consists of eggplant, a tomato, paprika, cumin, pepper and other spices as well as taktuka salad which consisted of green peppers and diced tomatoes with paprika, cumin and more. The main meal consisted of chicken tagine and let me tell you that it was the best chicken tagine I had in Morocco (and it wasn’t because I made it LOL). Lastly, for dessert, we helped make milk pastilla and freshly baked cookies. The milk pastilla consisted of almonds, phyllo dough, milk, orange and a few other ingredients. Everything was amazing and after our cooking class, we all received a certificate, a clay pot to cook tagine at home and the recipes for all the dishes we made.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Our cooking instructor was a traditional Moroccan chef who was very informative, helpful and she even sang a Whitney Houston song for us. It was such an amazing experience!

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

In addition to our cooking class, we were even given a demonstration on how to make traditional Moroccan tea. It was really interesting to see the process and all of the ingredients that are included in this comforting Moroccan drink.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

After our tea demonstration, we walked through the fairytale gardens to the pool area of the country club where there was a beautiful space for us to enjoy our food. Right before we went inside the dreamy tent to eat, there was a man who did a fire show for us. It was awesome! Inside the tent, there was a Moroccan music group that played traditional songs for us and there was also a henna artist. During our dinner, we savored our food, made memories and enjoyed some great laughs. We then danced the night away!

Moroccan Spa:

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

During my stay at Riad Almaha, I enjoyed a Moroccan spa treatment in their beautiful spa room. You could find various spas throughout Marrakech and plenty of hotels and riads have their own services.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

At my lovely riad, I had a choice of choosing a regular Moroccan massage or a Hammam. One thing about Moroccan spa treatments are that they are super relaxing and definitely well needed for the body. It is also important to note that you will need to be completely naked (for either types of massages), your ENTIRE body will be exfoliated during a Hammam and the massage will take place in a Turkish bath.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

This weekly ritual is considered a social activity in Moroccans’ daily life. If you go to a public Hammam, you will do the treatment yourself in a large steam room with other people (of your gender).

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

Overall, getting a Moroccan spa treatment during your time in Morocco is definitely a must and if you decide to get a Hammam, you will come home with zero dead skin! After my spa experience at Almaha, I enjoyed a lovely afternoon relaxing in the pools with some mint tea. It was the best way to end my time in Marrakech.

Best Luxury Experiences in Marrakech, Morocco

A few other items of clothing that I brought with me to Morocco were black leggings (this was perfect for my time in the desert), harem pants (for when I went camel riding), longer skirts, linen pants, comfortable and dressy sandals, sneakers and a swimsuit (to swim in my riad’s pool).
