A woman on a luxury winter vacation to St. Kitts and Nevis

Winter is the perfect time to treat yourself to a luxury vacation in the Caribbean. Four Seasons Resort Nevis is a 5-star beachfront oasis on the island of Nevis that includes a combination of adventure, serenity and recreation.

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island nation that is in the British West Indies of the Caribbean. (The islands gained independence from Britain in 1983 and they are considered the Caribbean’s oldest colonized territories.) Christopher Columbus discovered the island and named it after his patron, St. Christopher. It was later shortened to St. Kitts, which was his nickname. Nevis got its name because Columbus said it reminded him of snow-capped mountains and the Spanish word for snow is nieves.

A few other facts about St. Kitts and Nevis is that it is situated between both the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea and features incredible landscapes, including the dormant Nevis Peak volcano that you can admire from the Four Seasons Resort. You can find other beautiful beaches, mountains, a crater lake, rainforest and incredible wildlife on St. Kitts and Nevis and that is why it makes for a great winter escape.

During November 2021, I enjoyed a luxury winter vacation to Saint Kitts and Nevis with Caitlin of My Darling Passport where we relaxed on Pinney’s Beach at the Four Seasons and enjoyed their three pools. We also savored delicious meals at the resort’s restaurants and enjoyed all the amenities and beauty Four Seasons Nevis has to offer.

In this luxury winter vacation travel guide, discover how to have the best St. Kitts and Nevis Vacation at Four Seasons Resort Nevis.

Luxury winter trip to St. Kitts and Nevis

St. Kitts and Nevis Travel:

The island of Nevis

Traveling to St. Kitts and Nevis from the United States is easy for a luxury winter vacation. Caitlin and I flew from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in Basseterre, which is the capital on the island of Saint Kitts. We had a layover in Miami. You can find affordable flights through Skyscanner.

The best ways to get around St. Kitts and Nevis on your own is by either taking a taxi, which you can haul right outside of the airport, along with renting a car.

How to Get to Nevis from St. Kitts:

The island of St. Kitts

Getting to Nevis from St. Kitts can either be done by taking a private boat, water taxi, the ferry or a short flight.

There are six passenger ferries that shuttle people between Basseterre on Saint Kitts and Charlestown on Nevis, which is where the Four Seasons is situated. The ferry ride takes around 45 minutes and costs $26 Eastern Caribbean Dollars per adult and $16 EC per child. The primary ferry companies are MV Mark Twain/Sea Hustler and MV Caribe Breeze/Caribe Surf. I recommend getting to the ferry terminal earlier than expected because the ferries book up quickly.

In addition to the ferries, there are also water taxi services you can take to travel from St. Kitts to Nevis. The water taxis run between Reggae Beach Bar at Cockleshell Beach on Saint Kitts to Oualie Beach on Nevis. It costs around $20 to $30 USD per person for the 10-minute trip. Rides should be scheduled in advanced. The local water taxi operators are Sea Brat, Perfect Life and Black Fin.

In addition, you can travel to Nevis via a short flight during your luxury winter vacation. Winair offers daily scheduled flights between the two islands.

During a luxury winter vacation with Four Seasons Nevis, they will organize a private van to come and pick you up at the airport, which will bring you down to the Christopher Harbor marina where you will then hop on a private boat that will take you over to the resort. It was easy and an enjoyable experience. We were even given local beer on our boat ride over to Nevis.

When Caitlin and I arrived at the resort’s dock, we were greeted by the friendly hotel staff who helped with our baggage and escorted us to check in and then to our suite.

Luxury Winter Vacation – Four Seasons Resort Nevis

Staying at Four Seasons Nevis:

I’ve stayed at three Four Seasons properties in 2021. My first stay was in January at Four Seasons Resort & Residences Anguilla and my second stay was in April at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo. All three of my stays were unbelievable and I loved how luxurious and comfortable the accommodations are. Plus, the staff are all so welcoming and accommodating throughout the entire stay.

During our luxury winter vacation on St. Kitts and Nevis, we stayed in the Chelanii Suite at the Four Seasons. I loved how beautiful and spacious the suite was and we also had stunning views of Pinney’s Beach, the hotel’s gardens and the Caribbean Sea.

A suite at Four Seasons Nevis

The Chelanii Suite has a living and dining room, with a bedroom off to the side. There are also two full marble bathrooms – one in the living room and one in the bedroom. This was awesome because sometimes it is hard to have two women share one bathroom. Both bathrooms had a bathtub and nice shower that came with luxurious bathrobes and slippers.

Our suite also came with a comfortable king-sized bed. I always love how comfortable the beds, pillows and comforters are at the Four Seasons. The resort also has hypoallergenic pillows on request, which is great for someone like me who has a skin allergy.

Each room at Four Seasons Nevis comes with complimentary water bottles, a twice-daily housekeeping service, a television, DVD player and more. (I also loved how adorable they decorated the bed!)

An adorable bed at Four Seasons Nevis

In addition to the Chelanii Suite, Four Seasons Nevis also has the Alexander Suite, Kalinago Suite, Poinciana Suite and the Indigo Suite for you to stay in during your luxury winter vacation.

If you rather stay in a regular guest room during your Four Seasons stay, there is the Ocean-View Room, Ocean-Side Room and Nevis Peak-View Room.

For those looking for a tropical paradise stay with a lot of privacy, Four Seasons Nevis offers one-bedroom plunge pool studios on the slopes of Nevis Peak. It is only an eight-minute golf cart ride to the beach, which is amazing!

The Four Seasons Nevis also has beautiful residences and villas. Discover more about Four Seasons Resort NevisEstate Homes, Pinney’s Beach Villas, Sunset Hill Villas and Palm Grove Villas.

Eating at Four Seasons in Charlestown, Nevis:

Another reason why I love staying at different Four Seasons locations is because each one of them offers great restaurants, featuring local and global cuisines.

Mango:
Blackened mahi mahi from Mango at FS Nevis

When Caitlin and I first arrived at Four Seasons in Nevis during our luxury winter vacation, we enjoyed a nice dinner on the water at Mango. This wonderful Caribbean restaurant features stunning views of St. Kitts island. It is dreamy!

For our first dinner at the hotel, we both got the catch of the day, which was a blackened mahi-mahi with brussel sprouts and potatoes. It was mouthwatering and delicious! We then shared a chocolate rum cake for dessert, which came with a test tube in it.

Mango has a master mixologist who makes incredible crafted cocktails to enjoy with dinner. I had a mezcal and Caitlin had a margarita and they were both delicious! The restaurant also had a local musician playing live music.

On the Dune:
Breakfast at Four Seasons Nevis on a luxury winter vacation

Another great restaurant to eat at is On the Dune. It is an upscale, beachside restaurant that features both Caribbean and American cuisines at Four Seasons Nevis.

During the week, the resort has its breakfast at On the Dune restaurant. Everything is a la carte and you can choose between sweet breakfast items like pancakes, Belgian waffles, etc. to savory dishes like omelets and veggie bowls.

While savoring breakfast at On the Dune, we got to try a plethora of different things from pumpkin pancakes to açaí bowls and fresh fruit platters to delicious eggs. We also enjoyed coffee and the fresh fruit juice of the day, which was nice and refreshing!

Salad and soup from On the Dune restaurant at Four Seasons Nevis
Seafood paella for dinner on a luxury winter vacation at Four Seasons Nevis
Key lime pie from Four Seasons Nevis

On our last evening on the island of Nevis, we ate at On the Dune restaurant. As an appetizer, I got the Caribbean lobster bisque with curry and Caitlin had the kale salad. For our main courses, we each got the seafood paella and then shared key lime pie for dessert. Everything was incredible!

EsQuilina:

Another great restaurant at Four Seasons Nevis is EsQuilina. It is a Mediterranean restaurant that features French, Spanish, Italian and Greek cuisine.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to eat dinner at EsQuilina, but on the weekends, they offer a nice buffet breakfast. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet on our last morning and I love all the pastries, tropical fruit and breakfast plates that the restaurant offered.

Kastawey Beach Bar:
A spicy margarita from St. Kitts and Nevis

A great beach bar is Kastawey. It is a great place to grab a delicious cocktail and Nevisian small bites and snacks throughout the day. I loved their spicy margaritas!

Things to do at Four Seasons Nevis during a Luxury Winter Vacation:

A woman on a luxury vacation to Four Seasons Nevis

If you are looking for the ultimate luxury winter vacation and where to escape for warm weather and relaxation, there is no better place than Four Seasons Resort Nevis. It is a great destination-in-place property for your warm Nevis West Indies escape.

Please note that the Nevis Four Seasons property is not one of the all-inclusive resorts, but they do offer great vacation packages! Discover the resort’s featured offers.

In addition to Nevis and St. Kitts being a great luxury winter vacation destination, it also makes for a lovely spot to spend the holidays (or a long holiday weekend)!

Below are all the best things Caitlin and I did at Four Seasons Nevis:

Relax at Pinney’s Beach:

A woman enjoying a sunny day on Pinney's Beach in Charlestown, Nevis

One of the main things to do during a luxury winter vacation to Nevis is to relax at Pinney’s Beach in Charlestown. What is nice about this beach is that it is located right at the Four Seasons!

Pinney’s Beach is a white sand beach featuring beautiful blue water that is perfect to relax and cool off in. All around the resort are lounge chairs and umbrellas that you can sit at and hotel staff members will come around and give you towels and also take your food and drink orders. It is amazing that Four Seasons has this luxury service because you never have to get up from your seat to walk over to the bar or restaurant.

Enjoying a private beach cabana at Four Seasons Nevis during a luxury winter vacation

During our luxury winter vacation at Four Seasons Nevis, Caitlin and I enjoyed our very own private beach cabana for the day and it was amazing! The beach cabanas are little gingerbread-type of houses that include lounge chairs, a couch, television and a fridge. There is even a hammock that comes with the beach cabana and Wi-Fi connectivity.

What is nice about having your own private beach cabana during your winter escape to St. Kitts and Nevis is that you get additional service. Caitlin and I enjoyed piña coladas and mojitos. The drinks were so refreshing and delicious! In addition, we both savored the poke bowl with chips, salsa and guacamole. It was a well-needed day!

A woman enjoying a drink on a hammock at FS Nevis

In addition to renting a beach cabana for the day, you can rent a pool cabana as well. You can also enjoy a lot of fun water sport activities at Pinney’s Beach such as stand up paddle boarding and snorkeling.

Enjoy the Four Seasons Nevis Pools:

A woman enjoying a beautiful sunset on a luxury winter vacation in Nevis

In addition to relaxing at Pinney’s Beach, enjoying the three pools at Four Seasons Nevis is what you must also do during a luxury winter vacation to this stunning Caribbean destination.

The Limin Pool is a beautiful infinity pool that is perfect to watch the sunset; admire the stunning views of Nevis Peak; relax in one of the pool cabanas and enjoy the fire pit. Overall, this pool is great for couples and friend groups!

A woman relaxing at the pool at Four Seasons Nevis

The best pool for families is the Calypso Pool, which is a clover-shaped pool that also includes picturesque views of Nevis Peak and has easy access to the beach!

Every Four Seasons resort has an adults-only pool and at the Nevis location that is the Soca Pool. It is a free-form pool with a lap lane and beautiful views of the resort.

A woman enjoying a sunny day on a luxury winter vacation at Four Seasons Resort Nevis

What I love about relaxing at the pool during a Four Seasons vacation is that staff members will come around with cold scented towels to wash your hands; a bucket of ice that contains cold water bottles and samples of different fruit smoothies, juices, ice cream, popsicles, etc. It is perfect for a warm day in the sun!

Besides swimming and relaxing at the pools of the Four Seasons, you can also enjoy poolside yoga or a fitness session. (Four Seasons Nevis also has tennis courts, a golf course and spa .)

Have a Lovely Candlelit Beach Dinner:

A private candlelit beach dinner during a luxury winter vacation

One of the most memorable things to do in Saint Kitts and Nevis during a luxury winter vacation at the Four Seasons is to enjoy a candlelit beach dinner. Caitlin and I had dinner at the same private beach cabana that we relaxed at during the day and it was amazing! (Also, you don’t have to be with a significant other to enjoy something like this.)

Tuna tataki
Snapper ceviche

Delicious desserts from a candlelit beach dinner

We savored a lovely 4-course meal with champagne. Our meal first started with tuna tataki. Next, we had snapper ceviche, which was my favorite! Our third and main course was a local white fish with lobster. It also came with two sides and I enjoyed brussel sprouts and mushrooms, which were delicious! Lastly, for dessert, I had the chocolate cake and Caitlin got the Oreo cheesecake. It was a lot of food, but everything exceeded expectations.

Taste Local Rum from St. Kitts and Nevis:

Two tropical drinks on St. Kitts and Nevis

During a luxury winter vacation to Four Seasons Resort Nevis, I recommend doing a rum tasting!

The Four SeasonsCrowned Monkey Rum Bar features a collection of the world’s greatest rum. Nevis used to be part of the sugar trade, so that is why the island is known for its rum.

In addition to rum tasting, you can also enjoy a cooking class!

Explore Saint Kitts and Nevis Islands:

Four Seasons Resort Nevis

A luxury winter vacation to St. Kitts and Nevis is not complete without exploring both islands. Some of the best things to do is enjoy a fun volcano hike on Nevis Peak, which is located steps away from the Four Seasons.

In addition, St. Kitts and Nevis islands offers great spots for snorkeling and Scuba diving! There are also a lot of great deep-sea fishing opportunities.

Since Four Seasons Nevis is in Charlestown, Nevis, I suggest doing an island tour, since it is filled with great history. Nevis was once home to Alexander Hamilton, who was a U.S. Founding Father. You can visit different historical sites, see gorgeous landscapes and even catch some cool wildlife. In addition, heading into town will allow you to taste delicious local cuisine.
