City Guide: Hoboken and Jersey City, New Jersey

Welcome back everyone! Thankfully, it is starting to feel like spring in the Greater New York City Area. If you are anything like myself, I tend to become a hermit during the colder months (of course, whenever I am not traveling). This past weekend was the first time in a while where the weather was actually beautiful, so I took full advantage of it and headed into the city.

On Saturday, my good friend Courtney and I attended a fun yoga and wine tasting event with my friends Dina and Liz. Their company is called Yoga Wine Party, which describes exactly what they do! The event started with an hour of Vinyasa yoga with Dina (of Yoga with Dina) and it was followed by wine tasting with Liz (of Wine with Liz). This fun event was hosted at Yo Yoga’s rooftop space in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It was such a perfect day to enjoy the weather, work out and have a great time!

It is events like these that make me love my home city because they are unique, fun and an awesome way to spend a day with friends and family. Even though NYC offers countless events, eateries and leisure activities throughout their five amazing boroughs, you could also experience as much fun in, what is known as, the “sixth boroughs” of Hoboken and Jersey City, New Jersey. Now, don’t get confused, NYC doesn’t actually have a sixth borough, but there have been silly rumors of adding Hoboken/Jersey City to the NYC subway network before. (I don’t know why or how because they are in New Jersey, but it’s a cool thought.)

Hoboken and Jersey City are located right across the Hudson River, facing the west side of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, New York. It is super easy to get from NYC to Hoboken and Jersey City and I definitely recommend making your way over there during your grand NYC adventure. Today, I am so excited to provide you with a great city guide to Hoboken, Jersey City and the area surrounding these towns. You will find recommendations of places to eat, drink, relax and have fun!

Just like in NYC, you could find all kinds of top-of-the-line food in this area such as artisan pizza, fresh sushi, tasty Mexican, delicious seafood, savory vegan and so much more! One of the top reasons why I enjoy spending time in Hoboken or Jersey City is because I haven’t found a bad restaurant yet! No matter where I go to eat in this area, I always leave the restaurant feeling satisfied. Here are both my friends’ and my own favorite selection of places to eat in the area.

On the truck, you could find the BEST lobster, crab and shrimp rolls; lobster mac and cheese and so much more! It is hard to find good lobster rolls in New Jersey, so Luke’s Lobster changes all of that.

It is here where you could enjoy pasta, paninis, salad and a drink overlooking the beautiful NYC skyline. What better way to enjoy a dinner on the Hudson than by having Frank serenade you throughout the restaurant?

Gringo’s Tacos (Mexican) – Jersey City, NJ: As the most talked about taco restaurant in the area, Gringos combines the best of Mexican and American ingredients to make an unbelievable culinary experience for all!

Enjoy the Great Outdoors:

From beautiful parks to scenic piers, lively biergartens to relaxing spas, there are an endless amount of options to enjoy some time outdoors in Hoboken and Jersey City.

As a reimagined Korean bathhouse with traditional spa treatments, SoJo offers outdoor pools and baths that overlook NYC, saunas and therapy rooms, a relaxation lounge, bathhouse and dining experience. It is the perfect place to relax and recharge from the hustle and bustle of the city.
