The Four Seasons Anguilla is a luxury, five-star beach resort located on Barnes Bay in the West End Village of the island of Anguilla. What was amazing about staying at Four Seasons is that you don’t even need to leave the resort to have fun, relax and make memories in Anguilla.

One of the most beautiful hidden turquoise jewels in the Caribbean is indeed the island of Anguilla. At only 16 miles long (35 square miles overall), Anguilla is an East Caribbean island located in the British West Indies; all of the locals know each other; everyone is friendly and accommodating and it is known for its 33 spectacular white sand beaches that feature water in over a hundred different shades of blue. Anguilla even has an ecologically significant coral reef, making it a perfect diving location!

A woman standing on the cliffs in Anguilla

Overall, Anguilla is a very exclusive island. There are no cruise ships that come into the country and there are also no crowds or casinos. The island has a landing strip for private jets and there are countless adventures for all to enjoy.

During January 2021, I escaped to the Caribbean with Caitlin of My Darling Passport where we relaxed at the resort’s two beaches and three pools. The both of us also savored delicious meals and refreshing drinks at the Four Seasons’ restaurants (the Anguilla property has four onsite dining facilities) and we also got to enjoy spacious accommodations, a floating breakfast, fun water sports, plus more!

Traveling to Anguilla in 2021

A woman on Meads Bay beach in Anguilla

When it comes to safety and traveling to Anguilla in 2021, it is required that you submit a negative rt-PCR test within 120 hours prior to departure.

Now, Anguilla does not have an airport for big commercial flights (there is an airport, but it’s to accommodate private jets and inter island planes), so you will need to fly into St. Maarten first and take a ferry over to Anguilla where you will receive your second PCR test.

The reason why you have to take two tests is because St. Maarten is a completely different country with its own rules and regulations and there are inter island restrictions.

In that case, you will also need to fill out documentation for both St. Maarten and Anguilla before you depart for your trip. What is great about Anguilla is that they are doing everything they can to keep everyone safe!

There is a two-week quarantine rule for visitors to Anguilla and before you question my sanity since I was only there for five days, Anguilla has what is called “bubble activities” for you to enjoy if you’re staying less than that time period.

When you arrive in Anguilla from the ferry, you will be given a wristband upon arrival that you MUST keep on you throughout the entire trip! (If you take that wristband off before your departure, you can get in big trouble with the law. If, by any reason, your wristband comes off by accident, please let the front desk of your hotel know right away and they will provide you with another one.)

A woman sitting at the edge of an infinity pool at the Four Seasons Anguilla

During your time in Anguilla, especially during the first 10-14 days, you could enjoy all of the activities at the resort as well as anything listed on the quarantine “bubble activity” list, which includes a decent number of fun things.

If you are staying longer than 10-14 days, you will need to take a third PCR test. Once your negative results come back (it’s rapid), you are free to go anywhere on the island and even rent a car.

The Caribbean Sea in Anguilla

Throughout our short stay in Anguilla, Caitlin and I were under surveillance where we received a few calls from public health officials asking us if we felt okay throughout our stay and they even provided us with a hotline number in case we fell ill, which was very helpful!

With the new USA CDC travel requirements for re-entry into the United States (as of January 26, 2021), the Four Seasons Anguilla has an on-site nurse to administer tests for all guests who are returning to America. (The nurse is also there for those who fall sick during their trip.)

Overall, I felt very safe with this method of traveling and of course, I wore a mask in all public spaces!

Getting to Anguilla:

A woman sitting at the Bamboo Pool at Four Seasons Anguilla - the best luxury beach resort

Like I mention above, in order to get to the island of Anguilla, you will need to fly to St. Maarten first. (Both Caitlin and I flew from Newark Airport.) After you arrive in St. Maarten and go through customs, there will be a representative from Four Seasons Anguilla waiting for you when you exit the airport.

The ferry from St. Maarten to Anguilla

The representative will take you to the ferry port where you will go through customs again (since you’re exiting St. Maarten) and hop on the boat that will take you to Blowing Point Ferry Terminal in Anguilla. The ferry ride is around 25 minutes long.

The ferry ride from St. Maarten to Anguilla

If you’re traveling to Anguilla in 2021, you will need to wear your mask the entire ferry ride! (During better times, the ferry offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for you to enjoy.)

Please note that during the time I visited Anguilla, the main ferry from St. Maarten to Anguilla and vice versa was NOT running. Instead, we took the private ferry that cost $110 USD each way. Also keep in mind that it will cost you an extra $300 USD for the Anguilla PCR test, medical and surveillance monitoring as well as the additional costs associated with the public health operational support.

After you get your test and go through customs again for Anguilla, the Four Seasons‘ representative will take you to the resort. When you check in, a hotel staff member will take you straight to your room where you are required to quarantine until you get your negative test results back.

(Don’t forget to bring extra cash to tip the drivers and those working the ferry. Anguilla accepts USD.)

The Four Seasons luxury beach resort in Anguilla

I will admit that being in quarantine during my first day at Four Seasons Anguilla was NOT BAD at all and you will read why below!

Pretty much, the hotel room I stayed in was very spacious; I had my own private balcony with a plunge pool that overlooked the Main Pool area as well as the Caribbean Sea. My room also included a very comfortable bed, a huge bathroom with a nice bathtub and I also ordered room service, so quarantine still felt like a vacation for me!

A plunge pool outside of a hotel room at Four Seasons Anguilla

It takes around four to eight hours (more or less) to get your test results back. Mine came back within six hours and Caitlin’s came back within seven to eight hours. The front desk called my room to inform me of my negative results and I also got an email from the Ministry of Health in Anguilla with a confirmation.

Please note to keep that confirmation email on you because you will need it again when you head back to St. Maarten to fly home. (You will also need to fill out another application to get approval into St. Maarten at the end of your trip.)

What to do at Anguilla’s Top Luxury Beach Resort

A view of Four Seasons Anguilla - private villas

It is always nice staying at a resort where you don’t even need to leave the property to enjoy your time! What is great about staying at Four Seasons Anguilla is that it is the best luxury beach resort with so many great amenities.

The best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

There are two amazing beaches – Barnes Bay and Meads Bay; three incredible pools – the Sunset Pool, Main Pool (also called Aleta Pool) and Bamboo Pool; four exotic restaurantsSalt, Half Shell Beach Bar, Bamboo Bar and Grill and Sunset Lounge; exciting water sport activities; a beautiful fitness facility; a pampering spa; a boutique; gorgeous lounge areas and breathtaking views all around.

Staying at Four Seasons Anguilla:

A woman at Four Seasons Anguilla

During our time at Four Seasons Anguilla, both Caitlin and I stayed in a pod that included a One-Bedroom Ocean-View Suite (where Caitlin stayed) and an Ocean-View Studio Room (where I stayed).

A Studio Room at Four Seasons Anguilla

The One-Bedroom Suite includes a spacious living room space along with a bedroom that has a king bed and a full bathroom. The Studio Room is also spacious and includes a king bed (or two queen beds). You could also get a rollaway bed in each room or a crib.

The Studio Room at Four Seasons Anguilla

What is awesome right now is that Four Seasons Anguilla has a special “Always Room for More” promotion going on until August 31, 2021 where if you reserve a one-bedroom suite, you will also receive a studio room complimentary! This is a safe and perfect option for a couples’ getaway, girls’ trip or family vacation!

A view of the Aleta Pool at Four Seasons Anguilla - the best luxury beach resort

My first full day at Four Seasons Anguilla was in quarantine, so I truly got to enjoy the room by cooling off and relaxing in the plunge pool that was located on my balcony. What was great about my balcony was that I got to enjoy views of the resort’s Aleta Pool as well as the glistening Caribbean Sea. (The room had sliding glass doors with shutters. I kept the doors and shutters opened during my quarantine and shut them at night.)

There was really nothing like being in quarantine at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla! Not only did I spend most of the day on my balcony listening to the palm trees sway with the wind, I also took a lovely nap; the king bed in the room was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in!

Manila Shrimp Noodles from Four Seasons Anguilla

I also ordered room service from Four Season Anguilla’s in-room dining menu. I savored the Manila shrimp noodle dish and it was absolutely amazing!

The marble bathroom at Four Seasons Anguilla

After dinner, I made myself a nice bath. Overall, the bathrooms at the Four Seasons are amazing! There were his-and-her sinks, a nice walk-in shower, a closet room, a toilet room and a nice bathtub. The entire bathroom was decked out in marble and I loved the bath products! (When I was finished with my bath, I got the phone call from the front desk letting me know of my negative test results.)

Face chairs from Four Seasons Anguilla

In addition to all of the amenities, I loved the earth tones in the room as well as all of the beautiful décor around the hotel. The service at Four Seasons Anguilla was also amazing as a staff member came in twice – once in the morning to clean and make up the room and once at night to tidy up.

A luxury villa at Four Seasons Anguilla beach resort

Besides the Ocean-View One-Bedroom Suite and Studio Room that Caitlin and I stayed in, you could also choose to stay in a Five-Bedroom Beachfront Villa, Four-Bedroom Beachfront Villa, Four-Bedroom Oceanfront Townhome, Three-Bedroom Oceanfront Townhome, Three-Bedroom Ocean-View Penthouse, Three-Bedroom Ocean-View Residence, Two-Bedroom Ocean-View Residence, One-Bedroom Ocean-View Residence, Ocean-View Rooftop Suite, Deluxe Ocean-View One-Bedroom Suite, One-Bedroom Ocean-View Suite, Deluxe Ocean-View Studio Room, Ocean-View Studio Room and Resort-View Room.

The private residences at Four Seasons Anguilla

(Four Seasons Anguilla also has private residences, so you could even purchase your own villa, penthouse, suite and room if you’re looking for a vacation home.)

What also makes the Four Seasons the top luxury beach resort in Anguilla is that they also have an app where you could make a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants on the property; schedule a time to use the fitness facilities; book a spa appointment; chat with someone; make a request and so much more.

You could also use the app to organize a “bubble activity”. When you make a request or start a chat with someone, the staff will get back to you within minutes, it is amazing!

What to do at Four Seasons Anguilla:

Dine at the Four Restaurants:

There are four wonderful restaurants to enjoy at Four Seasons AnguillaSalt, Sunset Lounge, Half Shell Beach Bar and Bamboo Bar and Grill.

A breakfast with a view at Four Seasons Anguilla

During our time at Four Seasons, the resort was only at a 30 percent capacity, but during better times in the world, it is recommended that you make reservations ahead of time to eat at any of the restaurants on the property!

Belgian waffles from the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

Every morning, Caitlin and I would enjoy breakfast with a view of the beautiful Caribbean Sea along with Barnes Bay and Meads Bay. Breakfast at Salt takes place between 7-11:30am every morning and dinner is from 6-10pm every evening.

Tropical fruit smoothie and juice from Anguilla

For breakfast, we both loved the fresh fruit juices and smoothies (as well as coffee of course). I enjoyed Salt’s omelets and Belgian waffles while Caitlin savored the avocado toast, pancakes and pastry platter. We also had a fresh fruit plate with our breakfast every morning. For dinner, Salt is renowned for serving vibrant seafood dinners like local crayfish!

Speaking of breakfast, did you know that you could also arrange a private floating breakfast at your villa’s pool or even in your plunge pool?! During our few days in Anguilla, Caitlin and I were able to enjoy a private floating breakfast experience. It was my second time experiencing a floating breakfast as my first time was in Bali.

A woman enjoying a breakfast poolside at Four Seasons Anguilla

The breakfast basket included fresh tropical fruit, pastries and Danishes, coffee, Champagne and orange juice. It was amazing, delicious and definitely confirms why Four Seasons Anguilla is the top luxury beach resort on the island!

An amazing sunset at Four Seasons Anguilla

The absolute BEST restaurant and lounge to enjoy a dreamy sunset at Four Seasons Anguilla is Sunset Lounge. On our second night at the Four Seasons, we watched one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life.

A beautiful sunset at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla - Four Seasons

The sky turned yellow, orange and then purple and there was nothing better than watching it all near the Sunset Pool (where the lounge is located). All of the palm trees around the resort were reflecting on the water!

A sunset kombucha from Four Seasons Anguilla

On this specific evening, I enjoyed a Sunset Kombucha drink and it was delicious! During better times, Sunset Lounge will have a DJ, live music performances and so much more. It is a hopping place!

In addition to drinks, Sunset Lounge is also an Asian-fusion restaurant that offers sushi rolls, sashimi and small plates.

Conch fritters and fries from the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

During the day, Caitlin and I enjoyed sitting at Barnes Bay, so on our third day there, we had a nice lunch on the beach from Half Shell Beach Bar. I savored the delicious conch fritters with French fries and a white sangria while Caitlin had the fish tacos with fries and a frozen drink. Everything was delicious!

Tropical drinks from the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

Lastly, Bamboo Bar and Grill is located on Meads Bay beach and unfortunately, I didn’t get to eat there during my time in Anguilla. It is a scenic restaurant and bar that overlooks the beach and you could enjoy grilled food along with cocktails, beer and wine!

Enjoy the Three Pools:
A woman floating in the Aleta Pool at Four Seasons Anguilla

Another reason why Four Seasons Anguilla is the best luxury beach resort on the island is because there are three stunning pools for you to relax at, sunbathe and enjoy!

A woman enjoying the infinity Sunset Pool at Four Seasons Anguilla

The Sunset Pool is an adults-only saltwater pool that is perfect for watching the sun go down and also admiring the beautiful views of Barnes Bay beach. I loved taking laps in this pool and the temperature was perfect!

The main pool at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

The Main Pool, also called Aleta Pool, is a gorgeous chlorine pool that is perfect for everyone to enjoy. The pool is decorated with nine tall palm trees. There are lounge chairs surrounding the entire pool area as well as private cabanas that you could book (which are perfect for couples).

A woman enjoying a beautiful day poolside in Anguilla

The Bamboo Pool is situated right next to Bamboo Bar and Grill and it is another stunning infinity pool that overlooks the beach at Meads Bay. (This pool has a cooler temperature than the other pools at the hotel, which makes it refreshing on a hot day.) This specific pool is great for kids and little ones because there is a shallow part to it.

Sunbathing at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

No matter what pool you decide to relax at during your time at Four Seasons Anguilla, there is around-the-clock service. Someone will come over to set up your lounge area with towels and they will also give you complimentary water bottles and a menu so that you could order food and drinks straight from your chair. (Don’t forget to have extra cash on you in order to tip!)

Relax at The Two Beaches:

A woman enjoying a beach day in Anguilla

The Four Seasons Anguilla has two beaches on its property, which also makes it one of the leading luxury beach resorts.

Barnes Bay Beach at Four Seasons Anguilla

Barnes Bay beach is more of a secluded beach and it is where a lot of guests who stay in the villas relax at. Personally, Caitlin and I enjoyed sitting at Barnes Bay beach during our getaway because of how peaceful it was.

Meads Bay beach in Anguilla

Meads Bay is considered the activity beach where you could go kayaking, snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding, etc. It is a beach where more families with kids tend to sit at and it is also very beautiful. I loved walking along Meads Bay beach during my last morning in Anguilla!

A woman in one of the coves at Four Seasons Anguilla

In addition to Barnes Bay and Meads Bay beaches, Four Seasons Anguilla also has secret coves for you to enjoy when the water is calm and low tide. (Please be careful when you visit the coves!)

Participate in Water Sports and Activities:
Water sport activities at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

There is a lot of fun and memories to be made at Anguilla’s best luxury beach resort! You could enjoy complimentary water sport activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkeling and more. There is also a hobbie cat on the resort, if you are into sailing. I did this during my time in Belize and it was such a blast!

Some more great amenities at Four Seasons Anguilla are the rock-climbing wall; tennis and basketball courts; yoga and boot-camp fitness classes; a Johnny Cakes cooking class, which is a cornmeal flatbread that is a culinary staple to the country and an island painting class with a rum punch to enjoy. Four Seasons also offers boating and sailing services, tennis instructions as well as kitesurfing lessons.

Palm trees in Anguilla

In addition, Four Seasons Anguilla also has a “Kids for All Seasons” program where children could give their parents a break for a bit. In this kids’ program, children can make new friends, learn a new skill and have fun under the watch of the resort’s staff.

There is also a teen program where older kids can do fun activities with peers and make new friends. Some fun activities in the teen program are beach volleyball, rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and more.

Book a “Bubble Activity”:
The Bamboo Pool at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla

During a tropical getaway to Anguilla, I highly recommend exploring beyond the resort. If you are planning to travel to Anguilla during 2021, definitely check out the “bubble activities”. If you plan to travel to Anguilla any other time, you can obviously go anywhere on the island freely.

Since Caitlin and I traveled to Anguilla during January 2021, if we planned to do anything outside of the Four Seasons, it had to be within the “bubble”.

The bubble activities in Anguilla

Now, before you plan anything within the “bubble”, I highly recommend that you check with the Four Seasons to see if it is okay for you to do certain activities. A lot of the “bubble activities” and spots that seem feasible to visit, will most likely not be allowed via taxi. Instead, you will be required to take a private boat to get to that specific “bubble” spot.

Unfortunately, taking a private boat in Anguilla is quite expensive, so Caitlin and I mainly spent our time at the Four Seasons, although we did get off the property to experience some of the island’s best restaurants!

Sesame snapper dish from Anguilla
Key lime lemon pie from Mango's Seaside Grill in Anguilla

On our second night in Anguilla, Caitlin and I visited Mango’s Seaside Grill, which is a beachfront Caribbean restaurant. We both had a rosé while I savored the sesame snapper fillet and Caitlin also had another delicious sesame dish. Everything was tasty and we both split a key lime lemon pie for dessert.

Rose from Straw Hat in Anguilla

On our final night in Anguilla, we ate at Straw Hat Restaurant, which is one of the most popular eateries on the island. Almost everyone who has traveled to Anguilla raves about the food at Straw Hat and I have to agree that it was quite delicious.

A lobster dinner from Straw Hat in Anguilla

During our evening at this oceanfront restaurant, I enjoyed the grilled lobster with coconut rice and fried plantains and Caitlin savored the red snapper dish. Everything was awesome! I was also told that the spring rolls at Straw Hat are amazing, so if you make it to the restaurant, definitely try them!

West End Arch in Anguilla

Other fun things to do in the “bubble” are to go golfing at Greg Norman’s 18-hole Championship Course; see the famous West End Arch by sea; scuba dive at a local spot where you could admire the stunning coral reef of Anguilla; take a glass bottom boat tour to observe the sea life of the Caribbean Sea; kayak or snorkel at Crocus Bay or Little Bay and do a day trip or half day trip to Sandy Island or Prickley Pear, which are private off-shore cays.

Please note that you will need to take a private boat to either Sandy Island, Prickley Pear, Crocus Bay and Little Bay.

The beach at the best luxury resort, Four Seasons Anguilla

**Another reason why Four Seasons Anguilla is one of the best luxury beach resorts is because it offers stylish event spaces for a destination wedding. The staff at the Four Seasons will go the extra mile to make everyone’s special day amazing! Anguilla is also a romantic island for a honeymoon as well as an engagement.

Four Seasons Anguilla lounge area

Overall, I had an amazing and rejuvenating getaway to Anguilla. My time spent at Four Seasons Anguilla was definitely one for the books!

Throughout my stay, everyone kept telling me that once someone visits Anguilla, whether it be their first or 20th time, they always make their way back at some point. This really struck me because the island and country as a whole was very special and the staff as well as the locals were warm and welcoming. They made my experience extra incredible! I know for sure that I definitely will be back!

A woman having a coffee and fresh fruit in her pool at the best luxury beach resort in Anguilla
