Mary Passalacqua is the owner of the Woolverton Inn and I had the opportunity to meet her during my stay and get to learn more about the beautiful bed and breakfast.
After a successful career as a Fortune 100 finance executive, Mary traded in her corporate job for the entrepreneurial life as the owner of the Woolverton Inn.
Mary and her husband Mario, who purchased the inn in 2016, always loved visiting quaint towns near the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York and enjoyed bed and breakfast getaways in Vermont and New Hope, Pennsylvania, which inspired them to one day own a bed and breakfast.
Overall, Mary loves expressing her creativity at the inn through gardening, cooking and blogging. She also enjoys playing on the inn’s piano, going on nature walks and bike riding.

Overall, Mary enjoys interacting with Woolverton’s guests and seeing them make memories at the inn.
One of Mary’s favorite memories was seeing a family spend Christmas at the inn and opening their gifts under the Christmas tree in the manor’s living room.
Her favorite time of the year at Woolverton Inn is springtime when the days get longer and flowers start to bloom.
Getting to Stockton, New Jersey:

Getting to the Woolverton Inn could be done by driving or taking the train.
The nearest railroad (NJ Transit) on the New Jersey side is in Annandale, NJ, which is a half hour north from Woolverton Inn. The closest railroad in distance to the inn is in Doylestown, Pennsylvania through the SEPTA Regional Rail. You could take an Uber or Lyft from either train station to Woolverton Inn.

Since the inn is located in Stockton, NJ, it takes around an hour and a half to get to from Manhattan and 50 minutes from Philadelphia.
Since I came from Northeast Jersey, it took over an hour and 15 minutes to get to the Woolverton Inn with my own car. When exploring the surrounding areas, we drove my car, but there are also Ubers and Lyfts available if you are planning to consume alcohol at a local restaurant or bar.
Staying at the Woolverton Inn:

When you book your stay at Woolverton Inn, you have a choice of selecting a charming inn room or suite located in the actual manor house or you could choose a beautiful cottage situated on the property.
During our time at Woolverton Inn, Michele and I enjoyed staying in the elegant and rustic Carolyn’s Overlook Cottage on the second floor of the 1828 Carriage House.

It is the newest and largest suite that includes a gorgeous master bedroom with a king-sized bed, large stone bathtub, gas fireplace, en-suite bathroom with a rain shower (that also leads out into the kitchen) and a window that overlooks the great lawn and manor house.

The cottage was absolutely perfect for the two of us since we both got our own bedroom! Yes, there are two bedrooms in the Carolyn’s Overlook Cottage. The second bedroom includes a queen-sized bed that overlooks the sheep pasture and it also has a half bathroom.

I truly enjoyed staying in the master bedroom because it was absolutely beautiful and included rough-sawn oak beamed ceilings and a chandelier. It is all of the rustic dreams I envision in my future bedroom. I also loved how comfortable the bed was. I definitely had an amazing night’s rest here!
The Carolyn’s Overlook Cottage also had a living room with an additional gas-fired stove. We LOVED the gas-fired stove!

During our night at the Inn, we enjoyed having a cozy board game night under the fire. It was absolutely perfect and we shared a lot of laughs as we had fun playing Jenga.

The rest of the cottage included a spacious kitchen with a huge round table that seats up to 10 people. (This is the cottage that most brides choose for their bridal suite when they get married at the Inn, since there is a lot of room to get ready.)
There is also a huge deck with outdoor furniture that overlooks the planting fields as well as a Juliette porch from the kitchen. The additional amenities that come with the Carolyn’s Overlook Suite are a large LCD TV, WiFi, individually controlled central air, terrycloth robes, Egyptian cotton towels and bed linens, complimentary soft drinks and water.
When I first arrived at the Woolverton Inn, Mary took me around the property and showed me the other rooms and cottages that you could choose from.
I loved how each room and cottage were unique from each other. I found that most of them had the bathtub actually located in the bedroom because that was how it was back during the Victorian era. A lot of the rooms also had a fireplace and thoughtful decorations.

The other cottages you could choose from in addition to Carolyn’s Overlook are The Audubon; The Cotswold, which is inspired by the charm of the Cotswolds in England; The Garden Cottage that includes a stained glass window from a local company and is also pet friendly; The Hunterdon as well as The Sojourn Loft, which has a spacious loft. No matter which cottage you choose from, you will fall in love with how charming and peaceful they are.

Mary also showed me the rooms and suites in the Inn and I loved how some of them were named after people who have once resided in the manor.
Just like the cottages, every room and suite is unique from one another and they all offer its own charm. The rooms and suites you could choose from in the main house are Amelia’s Suite; Asher’s Glen; Dorothy’s Room; Letitia’s Suite; Newell’s Library, which features a library of over 700 books; Primrose’s Room; Stockton’s Hideaway, which is dedicated to St. John Terrell who is the founder of The Lambertville Music Circus and once owner of the inn during the 1950’s and 60’s and lastly, The Balustrade features a private balcony that overlooks the gardens and front lawn (this is a popular room for a bride and groom, since you could look out at your wedding from the balcony).

During our stay, we enjoyed taking a stroll along the walking paths of the Woolverton Inn’s property.
Even though we visited in March, we got lucky because the weather was absolutely beautiful for a scenic stroll. All throughout the grounds are lounge chairs where you could sit and read a book, enjoy a refreshing beverage or a coffee with a friend or just simply enjoy the views.

In addition, Woolverton Inn also has sheep on the property that you could feed. One of the staff members provided us with some sheep snacks and we had fun interacting with the fluffy cuties. What is so cool about the inn’s sheep are that they have natural fibers which create wool!

We also loved the amazing three-course country breakfast that included homemade blueberry muffins, a refreshing fruit salad and homemade waffles with blood orange and mango along with homemade turkey and cranberry sausage on the side. (During that specific morning, we had a choice of choosing the waffles or eggs.) Everything was delicious!

In addition, the inn also offers coffee, tea, fresh fruit juices, water and cookies throughout the day. You could savor your breakfast in the inn’s dining room, on the heated porch or even have it ordered to your bed!
The Woolverton Inn also offers great packages that you could enjoy with your friends all throughout the year!
You could have chocolate truffles with Champagne ordered to your room and enjoy a delicious sheep’s cheese platter that you could also savor in the comforts of your own suite or cottage. There is also a country excursion where you could enjoy a lovely bike ride through unspoiled lanes and riverside bike trails and the inn will provide you with a four-course gourmet picnic lunch, rental bikes and helmets, a map, plus more. You could also do an in-room spa experience!

Wow, looks like an amazing getaway! Lovely post
Hey Taylor,
That’s awesome that you got to visit somewhere close to home. It’s looks like a very historic Inn. It sure would be a nice getaway for a girls weekend or to get away from the city for a weekend.
I hope more people will travel locally once things eventually get back to “normal” times.
This looks like the perfect getaway. I would have chosen the cottage over the carriage house also. It sounds fabulous. I love that you had a great girl’s getaway!
this place looks amazing! definitely in need of a girls weekend soon!
What a beautiful place for a getaway! And it’s even better that it was close to home, so you can go back anytime 🙂 I love your photos as always — so dreamy!
What a gorgeous B&B! And I love how you’ve been so thorough with things to do in the area. Though if I was staying in that lovely cottage (the book-lined bedroom is my absolute fave!) I’m not sure I’d want to go anywhere at all, except to the dining room for one of these yummy breakfasts. Pinning for later, and dreaming of a weekend getaway here.
Oh my, this looks gorgeous and romantic! I wouldn´t mind a night or two at this moment hehe or as soon as this quarantine is over :). Your pics are wonderful, I´m definitely saving this for when I get across the Atlantic again.
The balloons and horseriding look awesome and would love to try the canoes and kayaks too!
This place is absolutely charming!!! It’s completely perfect for a girls trip or romantic getaway!
Wow! This seems like such a great place! Totally the place for a girls getaway! 🙂 Will save this for later!
How charming this place looks! I am sure this is the perfect place to relax with friends but also as a couple!
That looks great! I never explored this part of the US but if I ever do, I’ll make sure to check this Inn out 😉
This is exactly what comes to mind when I picture the perfect holiday at an inn! Modern, but still has the old vibe and some of the style left, ah, looks beautiful!
I would love love love to spend a cozy weekend here! Definitely in need of a getaway from NYC when this is all over!
Looks like a really cute place to stay! Sounds like you had a great time!
Oh my that looks just beautiful! I would so stay there!
What an absolutely gorgeous inn and you take some seriously gorgeous photos! You make everything look so picturesque although I’m sure the inn is naturally super comfortable and quaint. I love the furniture, especially that armchair next to the bath. I could lounge in there alone all day! Although I do love a good fire! And the surroundings towns are gorgeous too, especially the one with the canals. You’re right about it being a little Venice or Amsterdam!
This place looks incredible! I would love to visit it someday! Added it to my bucket list.
Hey Taylor!
This place looks so beautiful and cozy! I especially loved the room with the small library inside as I could stay for weeks snuggled up with a good book! Wow, this is absolutely a beautiful Inn. The rooms are decorated beautifully and I love the warm welcoming vibe of this Inn. The grounds are stunning ~ we will definitely have to go back for a mother and daughter’s weekend either in the spring, fall or Christmastime! This is a perfect place to unwind after working a long week in the office. So many great places to eat, shop and participate in outdoor activities.
